Hi

It is possible but to be honest the cost involved and the work to do it does not really justify fitting one. If you are looking for power increase there are other much cheaper methods of getting good BHP from these engines, such as twin carburetters, in fact it would be cheaper to buy carbs and you would get a hell of a lot more power from then than a regular turbo.

Hope this helps
Regards

Dan

Can I put 2.2l engine from a 92 subaru legacy it in 99 legacy

Yes, the engine long block is the same, any "EJ" engine will bolt up to any "EJ" transmission. I would advise you to look at the EGR setup on each engine, some had a tube that ran down to the drivers side cylinder head and some didn't. That could be a problem, at that point you would have to block of the extra port depending on if you run into one did and one didn't have an EGR tube. I would use the intake off of the engine that is already in the car, along with the cam and crank sensors. You might have to swap the oil pressure sensor and possibly the coolant sensors, the only reason for that is because the different years sometimes used different style connectors on sensors.

What year manual transmission fits to a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX?

Pretty much any "EJ" transmission will fit any "EJ" engine, the only problems are whether the clutch is a pull or push type release bearing? That will also make a difference how the clutch slave cylinder mounts up. If it isn't a turbo model trans, it will not take the HP that the engine puts out for very long. The Impreza STI manual trans will bolt up, but there will be some exhaust fitment issues where the down pipe bracket connects to the trans.

Cold start valve

Subaru definitely use them.

You can go to a garage and reset the codes using a code reader. You can also do it by disconnecting the battery for 2 hours. Make sure the key is in the ignition when you reconnect. Leave the vehicle 15 minutes after reconnecting to allow resets to ECM and anti-theft system to finish. Make sure you know your radio code.

My b4 is driving like a normal car but turbos are not spinning and car missing and spluttering when put foot down what would be causeing turbos not working and how do i fix it thanks

you blew your turbo bearings plane and simple. what had happend was your were probably racing around in it on a Stock pressuer relief valve (blow-off valve in street terms) and your pressuer backed up into the turbo, therefore sending the trubo's bearings for a spin the wrong way, probably nocked a couple in to the fan of the turbo and messed some stuff up. Auto salvage yard. you have the 2.0 H4 which is a very common subaru engine, and just pull apart a legacy touring or outback edition and grab all the turbo essentials. also to prevent this from happening, buy a cheap aftermarket blow off vavle, you'll hear a small wistle when you shift gears (if its a standard/manual transmission) but if not then you won't hear a thing. but its normal for the wistle to happen, that is letting you know your blow off valve is allowing any backed up pressure to escape. And one last thing, AUTO START is a big help with turbo engines, you can park it, take the key out, get out of the car and the car will remain running for 10-15 minutes to allow any back pressure from the turbo to work it self out of the engine. Trust me i have a nissan 240sx with a hevily modified engine, and until someone pointed this out, i blew and bought 4 turbo's

Like to know how to set timing on a 92 suberu. all

The '92 Subaru Legacy uses a distributorless ignition system. No adjustment is possible/necessary. The computer adjusts the timing continuously.

You can check the timing if you have a timing light. The spec for engines with a turbo charger is 15 degrees plus or minus 8 degrees at 700 RPM. Non-turbo engines are 20 degrees plus or minus 8 degrees at 700 RPM.

1994 subaru impreza turbo engine knocks when revving the car

hi mate try a thicker grade oil i'm not an expert on the turbo charged horizontaly apposed engine ...but i take it you are not the first keeper of the car so its probably had the wotsits raced out of it and seeing that its around the m reg it stands a chance age and the odd boy racer are unfortunately against it as i beleive that year was the first of the impreza ...try a 15 or a 20/40 oil failing that take the air intake pipe off and checkfor oil you will get a degree of oil in the pipe but not bucket loads good luck !!

Engine check light comes on

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for half an hour to reset the computer? If that doesn't work I think the Vacuum Pressure Sensor is in the black box with all the vacuum hoses going to it beside the air filter housing. Not sure tho, subaru will tell you where it is & how to test it if you ring them & ask for the workshop.
