Have the radiator cooling system pressure tested first. the if all is ok, then suspect a stuck thermostat. if these are all good, then I would check the flow of the system, may have restriction causing not enough fluid to pass by and transfer heat away.

I have a 1988 Jeep Comanche, w/4.0 automatic,w/only 71,000 original miles on it. It overheated last week, and I have changed the thermostat and now the water pump-and it still is overheating .Oh and I am...

check your coolant temperature switch, and also after you replaced the waterpump, and thermostat, did you get all of the air out of the system, on a lot of the jeeps , on the thermostat housing , there is a threaded screw in the housing, i believe it takes a allen wrench to remove the screw, this will let air out of the cooling system, the best way to do this , is when you are refilling the system, remove the screw, and when the coolant reaches the area of the screw and starts to come out, replace the screw, and this bleeds the system.

I have a 88 jeep comanche it started over

Check to make sure the air is bled out of the system by removing the cap on the bottle and the heater hose at the thermostat housing. When fluid starts running out of the housing, reattach the hose and test again.

1990 Jeep Comanche won't start

The overheating and the no- start condition are probably not related esp if u had it sitting for a while after the overheating. start with the obvious, verify your battery is charged then update us.
