Question about 1990 Mercury Sable

1 Answer

I read that the oil pressure sender is near the oil filter on the front of the motor, but I can't find it. Can you give me a more specific location? Please use facing-forward language - right is right, front is front, etc. Thank you!

Hello thesandersfa.

If the engine in your Sable is a 3.8 it is lower right hand side, front of engine, below the power steering bracket, above the oil filter.

If your engine is the 3.0 liter it is on center left upper side of the engine below the air intake/throttle body near where the transmission is bolted to the engine.

If you need more assistance with the location, please ask me.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Where is the oil pressure sender switch located on hyundai tucson

Your best bet is to buy a service repair manual specific to your vehicle since you'll want to make other repairs when they arise. You can purchase hard copies in book form or download an electronic version. Such publishers for automotive repair manuals include Motors, Chilton, Haynes, etc.

Where is the pressure switch located on a 1995 V6 Toyota Camry

You would probably mean the oil pressure (or 'sender') unit. On the 1MZ alloy block V6 it is located on the front of the engine under the timing belt cover at about the level of the oil filter, below the alternator mounting. See here p140 (you don't need to do the large amount of disassembly shown in the diagram).

On the older 3VZ iron block engine it is on the outside of the block right next to the oil filter, near where the dipstick tube goes down.

How can I check oil pressure guage is there a sensor or vacuume line that could of worked loose where would it be located at

Location of oil pressure sender unit depends on what engine you have. There should be one wire going to sender, and if it has come off, gauge will read zero. 4.0 inline 6 has sender low on passenger side of engine, above the starter.

Can you please tel me the loaction of the oil pressure switch on my 1997 XJ 6

The oil pressure sender unit should be located in the right front corner of the engine block, near the oil filter. If you look at the engine from the front. On the right side about half way down, screwed into the engine block, you'll see a single wire going into a ( approx2inch round diaphragm). That is the oil pressure switch. It near the oil filter. -------------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

How do I get to the oil sending unit

The oil pressure sender is a sensor connected to your engine block. It has two wires connected to it and one is directly linked to the oil pressure gauge located on your dashboard. The sender is typically located at the front of your engine block near the fuel filter and close to the intake manifold. Applications vary, so be sure to check your owner's manual to confirm its actual location. You should have easy access to it from the front of the engine block, but you may still need to remove some parts or components to reach and replace it like the fuel filter. You'll need to detach the two wires connected to the outside, unscrew the sender from its housing, clean the gunk out of the threads in the housing, pre-seed the threads of the new sender with a light film of oil, and then screw the new oil pressure sender back into the housing. The final steps include re-attaching the two wires and any removed components like the fuel filter.

Oilpressure switch location

Left top of your oil filter. It has a electrical connector on it. The 2000 caravan shows the Oil pressure sender next to the filter. The Knock sensor is on the other side of the filter in front of the starter. Good luck and hope this helps.

I have a 2002 Cherokee 2.4 sport petrol engine Jeep. Recently the oil warning light ( red) on the dash board stays permanantly on. The oil level checks OK and the engine appears to be running OK. Could it...

Oil pressure sending unit should be located somewhere near the oil filter. check that the wire is attached to it and is not grounded. If engine is not making any tapping noises chances are that the sender is bad. If after changing it, the problem persists, put a mechanical gauge on the system (attach where sender is) and read actual oil pressure (should be no lower than 15psi when hot but I prefer better than 20 hot at idle, 40-50 running at 2000rpm)
