How do I fix the clutch on a 1997 Ford escort

It depends on what is wrong with the clutch. Is it slipping, juddering or making gear selection difficult?

Not all Ford Escorts have self-adjusting clutches; some are manually adjusted and need attention from time-to-time and proper engagement can be prevented if the pedal has risen too high.

Even the automatic adjuster can cause problems sometimes as can the clutch cable.
Before starting the big job of dismantling the suspension and removing the gearbox it is as well to check what can be checked and be sure lots of work is really needed.

My 1997 Toyota Camry Manual 5 speed is slipping a little bit and i need to know how much fluid the transmission takes and what kind. I also want to know what it means when my rpms go up but your speed only...

Sounds like you need to replace the clutch if the rpm's increase alot and the speed increases a small amount the clutch is starting to have excess slippage. If you go to Autozone web site and search a bit you should be able to find the needed type of transmission fluid and quanity needed.

Where is the clutch hydraulic reservoir on a 1993 ford escort lx?

The clutch and brake system use the same reservoir, there is a hose coming out from the side of the reservoir that goes over to the clutch master cylinder. Sometimes the brake fluid level goes low as brake pads wear and lowers the fluid level too low to work the clutch. Hope this helps, let me know.

'94 Fprd Escort. When driving clutch "slips" with heavy acceleration. If creep rpm's up slowly it seems to be ok. Sound like fluid??

Clutches don't have fluid... but your clutch plate could be wearing down. Sometimes there is an adjustment that can be made to the clutch itself, depending on the vehicle.

Find the location for clutch fluid

it is on the firewall in front of the driver under the hood, a small plastic resovoir, u should never have to add fluid to this, as the clutch wears the fluid level moves up, so u must have a leak.
I is outlined in the owners manual, if u don't have opne follow the ink below for a free dopwnload at the Ford Fleet web site

Thx ahead for the 2 people who responded before to this ? Anyways my standard transmission slips 25% of the time only on 3rd gear. I do have 5 gears. Its been like this for 7months and never got worse or...

that is very difficult. it could be that you need to change your filter and fluid. but, it could be that you do need to replace or rebuild your transmission. if you go to your local autozone, they can help you out with everything you need.

1998 ford escort clutch

There are 2 master cylinders on the escort, one for brakes, and the other for the clutch. You put the fluid in the master cylinder.
