You don't say what engine you have but it sounds like it could be a problem with the crankshaft pisition sensor. It will be on the bottom of the engine near the front in front of the oil pan but behind the lower pulley that the crank turns and basicly rides on the front of the crankshaft.

But see if you are getting codes first if the service engine soon light is on there is a code. You can take it to the auto parts store and they will read this for free

Were you able to get any code readings. You see i have all of the factory manual that cover this engine but with the codes that the vehicle is displaying the problem could be caused by any number of sensors or other fuel related or ignition system problems. And even with the codes i still have to figure what the problem is related to and likely ask you a few more questions. Its that or start blindly replaceing components and that can get real expensive

What causes 2005 2.5l volvo to misfire and show code random multiple misfires i replaced plugs but no good

I would take it back and demand a refund. Could be the crank or cam sensors, an intake leak, faulty coil, or a list of other components.

When my car is ran on computer is has cose PO300 PD. What does this indicate?

DTC P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
Basically this means that the the car's computer has detected that not all of the engine's cylinders are firing properly.

A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why.

Hope this helps.

Multiple cylinder misfire

There could be a couple of reasons for this. If you are getting multiple misfires then usually it has something to due with the plugs going bad. It also depends on how many miles you have on the plugs and the wires. The other problem could be with the ignition coils or the ignition module.

I would check out the EGR valve. That maybe what is causing all the misfires.
