I have a 1993 chevrolet 1500 why does my headlight switch keep burning out

Typically the reason is too much load. You can measure it or pull some of the load items off the circuit. DO you have high performance headlights? One approach is to use a relay to power them. Then the load through the headlight switch only controls the relay, at negligible load..

Headlight shut off and on for no reason. Where do I start?

Hello Olma, Most Ford headlight switches have a built in circuit breaker. I think you need a new headlight switch. My '95 Mercury has a circuit breaker installed in the fuse box to the left of the steering column.

Mustang headlights

I do believe that you have found the problem. The only other thing would be the connection at the headlight itself.

No diffrence between the daytime running lights and the low beem headlight. hard to drive at night

I would try cleaning the headlights; they must have bad oxidation on them making the light yellow and dim; turtle wax makes a good headlight cleaner for a reasonable price just follow the directions properly.

I was trying to reconnect the headlight dimmer switch because the headlights were stuck on bright and somehow disconnected the push rod that runs down the steering colum, now only the passenger headlight...

The push rod operates a slide switch with many contacts/circuits. If the rod is not properly registered in the slide switch all kinds of faults could appear.

First, I would make sure the push rod is properly installed.

If you have a multimeter, you can check the headlight for continuity to see if it's blown. There's no particular reason, though, that working on the pushrod/slide switch would blow the headlight.

How do you remove the headlight lense to clean

snook321, For some reason all Ford Headlights fog up, if you pry the lense off you chance breaking it. the best thing to do is replace them with aftermarket headlights. You can get them off ebay or from factory outlets online, I use they are reasonable with pricing. Good luck with your lights
