OK, here is what the problem is, you most likely have a spark plug wire boot at the spark plug that is shorting to the cylinder head, this causes a loss of spark to one or more cylinders under a load, when you let up the pressure in the engine cylinder is less and the spark can jump without shorting to the head at the boot. Replace the plug wires and I am 99% sure you will cure the problem. Plug wires are very easy to replace, if you pull the plug boots out of the valve covers and find the holes are full of oil then you will need the valve cover gaskets replaced.

I am a specialist in this type of problem with 35 years experience, you have an ignition problem. The symptoms are text book, miss under load with miss going away when load on engine is decreased, the plug wires are the problem. There may also be oil that has leaked into the plug wells from a defective valve cover gasket seal as well, when you pull the plug wire boots out of the valve cover if they are covered in oil you will need to replace the plug well boots and valve cover gasket or gaskets as well, as the oil cause the rubber boots to break down and leak voltage to the cylinder head valve cover well.

Any cylinder misfire problems will cause idle issues like stalls. Did you also clean the throttle valve?

Please don't misunderstand me, the throttle valve is not the cause of the misfire that you fell when you accelerate, a dirty/sludged valve only causes idle stalls and in some cases a very slight hesitation on acceleration.

It sounds like your thermostat is not functioning properly. If the thermostat is stuck in the wide open position, too much coolant flow is allowed to circulate through the system.

I have a 1994 lexus es300, 6cyl. Would you please help this guy out and tell me where to locate the thermostat? Thankyou in advance. vince.

I don't really know how lexus motors are, but the thermostat is most often found in the top radiator line right where it goes into the engine. There's a little neck piece that connects the hose to the engine. You should find it under that neck piece. You generally can't see it from the outside. Hope this helps
