Do you have a user's manual? It may show it in there. It should be in the grill about in the middle of the car or to one side a little. Get a flashlight and look in the grill and you will find it. Where you want someone to push on the hood would be directly in the middle about 4-8" from the front of the hood. If you plan on running this car into the ground, you may want to consider buying a Haynes Repair Manual from Auto Zone. Best $20-25 you can spend. It's a great tool to have. Good Luck!

How do I reconnect the cable on my 1990 geo storm gsi that controls where the air flow is directed. like defrost floor heat vent dash vents. on the dashboard it is the lever above the temp lever. it has...

its just 1 lever , 1 cable and 2 arms (bell cranks)
the lever arm moves the cable, the cable then moves the damper arm. ( cave man simple and super reliable)
if it came loose at the far end, then the clip is missing?
finding GEO parts can be hard, (Geo is dead)
its really a Isuzu Impulse. rebadge job.

here is GM parts list.
note some are not sold now !
and isuzu is defunct here to, so....... USA.

http://www.tonkinonlineparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=825350&ukey_make=1087&ukey_model=15866

those levers are bell cranks.
the ends have holes. (for cable)
some cables are dog legged and just fit in , no clips
other cars use clips. if the clip i lost the cable can not be
held to the Cranks (damper levers)
ever been to an auto store, and seen the huge selection
of generic parts, called HELP.? (red blister packs galore)
they have clips.

On a 1992 Geo manual transmission, What positions do the two shift actuators need to be in to put the tranny in neutral

this m/t has very complex shift linkage.
you should by a real FSM for the car and see the many long pages on topic there,
the words just for the lever are here
  1. At the console, loosen the gear shift control housing nuts and the guide plate bolts.
  2. Adjust the guide plate by displacing it toward the front and rear so that the gear shift control lever is brought in the middle of the guide plate at the right angle.
  3. Once the guide plate is positioned properly, tighten the guide plate bolts to 7 ft. lbs. (9 Nm) and then the housing nuts to 4 ft. lbs. (5 Nm).

try a real fsm. you wont be sorry ! I promise !

My brake lights won,t go on in my 1993 geo prism

I would check the brake light fuse and the brake light switch under the dash on the brake pedal lever. And, of course, check the bulbs themselves.

may be low on fluid as that wont shift the pistons in the valve body of the transmission
due to no fluid pressure!

I had the same problem with my '93 Geo Metro. I would have to push down on the hood in front where the catch is while someone tried to trip the lever. Good Luck!
