Question about 2005 Ford Escape

1 Answer

My 2005 Ford Escape w/74k miles has recently had all 6 Ignition coils & plugs replaced. This was due to it running rough & the check engine light being lit. The vehicle ran smoothly for about 500 miles before the same problem returned. Any idea as to what can be causing this to reaccur? Not sure if it can be as simple as a fuel filter or even the ECM. 2005 Cadillac CTS 2.8L misfire on 2, 4 & 6

I would have installed new spark plugs, all new coils
& mailed away the injectors to be ultra sonic cleaned
while the motor was out.

I wouldn't do compression,do cylinder leak down test
before, you ever install any motor, to check it's mechanical
condition

Replace front or upstream O2 Sensors, as I assume they
have over 100,000 miles on them

Check fuel pressure & use professional scan tool software
to look at ALL data

05 Ford Escape, coils #3 & #4 not firing. We've replaced the battery, spark plugs, alternator, coil packs, & pcm. Had pcm reflashed. Garage said it had to be coil packs, but just replaced coil packs 3

Check engine light on ? Code's ? What engine ? 2.3 l 4cylinder or 3.ol v-6 This vehicle has coil on plug ignition system , not coil packs ! a coil per cylinder . If new coils an still has no spark , has no B+ voltage to the coil or the PCM isn't controlling them . Without testing i'd only be guessing as to the problem .If the repair shop you had it to can only say it had to be the coils , I'd find another shop to take it to !

The engine will run rough and the transmission light comes on. the transmission was replace a year or so ago it has about 150000 miles. it has done this before and cleaning the neg battery term seemed to...

Do you have any codes stored?
If so,what are they?
The engine issues are not likely related to the trans.
You may have a misfire due to a bad coil or other issue.
The trans can be addressed, after you clean up engine drivability.
Check ALL wires removed during the trans R&R,for loose grounds.
