Question about 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

Changed timing belt on 04 Touareg and now the truck mists. VAG-COM does'nt show any faults. Does this truck need to be reprogramed in order to accept the new timing?

No it doesnt thats for sure ,i think whats happened is you have wacked the valves doing the job ,do a compression test ,when you fit a belt always turn engine over with a rachet on front pulley nut 360? to ensure valves clear ,even the best of us can miss a tooth out when tightening the adjuster ,phone rings ,customer walks in or whatever and this is what i think has happened tighten the adjuster and its moved a notch ,wham bent valves

I dont think there is one.

Plug diagnostic and check if there is a fault on the engine ECU. It might be a connection cut in air temp sensor and the ecu runs fan all the time for protection something like SOS mode .

if the diag has a fault on a sensor "G # " then check wiring.

happened in most cases in several VAG

The recommendation is to get a new one & have it reprogrammed. ... Seat troubleshooting

That points to the fact that the problem is electrical (wiring or messaging i.e. sensor and ecu coms) I assume Seat is the tyle of car which means it is a VAG vehicle. Go to and search for sensor testing. They have a page describing testing most vag sensors including power ti injectors and cam position sensors.

How do you reprogram the throttle body on a 2000 Volkswagen beetle with a 1.8L turbo?

The best way is using a VAG-COM to reprogram it, but you can also try putting your key in your ing, leaving your drivers.door open, turning the key to the on position but not starting it, don't touch.anything, wait two minutes, then turn the key off and then start your car, run for a couple of minutes again not touching anything, then go for.a 10 minute ride, most of the.time this will work, if not you have to use the VAG-COM or have a shop that.has one do it.

Engine light on

Needs to be put on a VAG scanner, to find out what component caused the light to come on, has anything been unplugged and the engine started? The ECU detects a fault and stores it. It will need the scanner to put the light out. There are some cheap VAG scanners on Ebay that will do the job (about 25 pounds) a garage can charge around 80 pounds just to plug in

readjust the fan belt and check the condition of the pulleys The secondary air injector is showing a malfunction ---causes are ---wiring---AIR valve--- AIR sensor--- ECMI would be checking the wiring and connections as they may not have been replaced properly after the timing belt work. Replace with genuine units only as some after mark units are not compatible with the cpu.

Amber light shows car tipping downwards

Slippery road light is probably traction control. That light illuminated means the traction control is off. The car tipping downwards is probably the descent control. This is a system that applies brakes when going down a steep hill to ensure maximum traction and control. Both systems are probably operated by the same box. I would check fuses and relays first... beyond that further diagnostic will have to be done by the dealer or a German specialist with the use of a VAG-COM diag computer. You can buy a VAG-COM for around $300 usd from Ross Tech.
