Question about 2002 Buick Rendezvous

1 Answer

Hi, I have a 2002 Buick Rendezvous and the high beam light will not come on on the Passenger's side headlight. The low beam works great and the high and low beams work great on the driver's side. We have replaced the light bulb and fuse and the high beam light still will not work. This is a new headlight fixture since I hit a deer on the passenger side and everything on the passenger's side (headlight and all of the parts) are brand new as of January 09. Before I take it back to the shop, if there is something simple we can fix at home we'd rather do that than be without my car for several days while it is in the shop. The car is up for inspection soon and will not pass without the high beam working. Any advice? Thank you!

Make sure the high beam realay under the hood fuse box is working. You can swap the hi beam relay with the horn relay to test. The hi beam filiament in the bulb can be open too.

SOURCE: REPLACEMENT OF [LOW BEAM] HALOGEN BULB IN 2004 Buick LeSabre

I just Replaced a Low Beam Light bulb on a 2005 Buick La Sabre.

If You use a Metric socket and Remove the Two Silver bolts Attaching the headlight Assemble onto the metal surrounding the the lamp assembly it comes out to the front. This makes it much easier to access the bulb. Twist it counerclockwise & it comes out by pulling gently on the bulb. Then by realeasing a tab that is the socket holder bulb can be removed & replaced with a New #9006 low beam halogen light bulb. Wrap a Paper towel around the bulb & do NOT touch it with your bare hand as this wiil ruin a halogen bulb,

What would cause the low beam headlight not to work when all other lights work?

If you have standard halogen bulbs:

  1. Burned out light bulb; or
  2. Fried wires between the dashboard wiring harness and the headlight bulb connectors; or
  3. Fried headlight bulb connectors.
If you have HEI emitters:
  • Failed ballast.

2002 rendezvous low beams don't work. Fuses and bulbs fine. High beams work. Even swapped relays with high beams still no change. Running lights work but low beams don't in auto or manual. What else can...

What about the rest of the lights. The Auto and Manual function should turn the tail lights also. If they work, then it is a headlight wiring problem. If the tail lights are not working either, then it is the auto control module

From Info I have looked at I believe under hood micro switch relay 35 is for low beam and 34 is for high beam. It also looks like you have a different fuse for each light. The relay are for both low beam or both high beams. each headlight has its own fuse. I believe #4 fuse under hood is for passenger side low beam. fuses 1-4 under hood are for the four headlights as I understand the info I have seen.

I have a 1995 Ford Explorer Limited and the high beams work but the low beams and fog lights do not, please help....

These trucks are known for bad multifuction switches.
the switch that i talk of is the signal switch , the handle is the switch, it bolts to side of steering column . this switch controls the signals and the headlights and high /low beams. the other thing is the headlight switch connector, the connector some times goes bad and starts to melt or just comes out of the connector. you will need to remove the cover to steering column, the screws are located under the bottom cover in holes. remove cover and check connector and then test for power if you have power going into switch but not coming out then switch is bad.

the last thing is to make sure the bulbs are good , make sure the headlight bulbs are good , and also the driving light bulbs, test for power at the connectors to those lights to.
You will need to do a little testing to find the problem.

You have a bad electrical connection. Check the wiring harness and both sides of it's connectors for corrosion and or breakage. The connector terminals will become worn and corroded and the wiring sheaths a prone to weathering and become brittle. Replace or clean as needed.

Low Beam Drivers Side doesn't work ... low voltage,

Power for the headlights on the Left side (High and low beam.) comes from the same fuse... The ORANGE wire and the ORANGE/BLACK are the same, they connect in the harness. If you only lack the 12v to make the light work connect them at the headlight assembly.

If your low beam also lacks ground the Left low beam ground is shared with the right low beam ground... Run a wire from left low beam DARK BLUE to right low beam DARK BLUE/WHITE.

If its not working now then your cursed, seek a witch doctor.
