Also the coolant is leaking at the intake manifold and I have notice the coolant light coming on, I have been adding coolant, not much but now I can see where it is leaking from and this is going to cost a few dollars to fix, mostly labor though..Other than that it runs fine, I have been getting bad gas mileage though and the gas gauge fluctuates, Can anyone tell me why?

The most common reason for the check engine light to come on is the Oxygen Sensor. Take the car to a garage and have the engine fault codes checked.

Check engine light comes on, but computer shows no problem?

Do not shut off the Van and check the lights.... Did you have your Transmission serviced lately? Common problem with this transmission.

Your problem could quite possibly be an internal issue with PCM/ECU

The engine check warning light has just come up on the dashboard of my '02 Lanos - the car seems to be running fine. Got no cash 'till pay-day, can I still use the car 'till I can get it checked out in 10...

yes if the car is running fine.It is probably an emission problem.Take it to the shop to get codes read. Most do it for only takes 10 minutes.this will tell you what is wrong.

The check engine light came on it seems to run fine the only other thing i noticed is the temp gauge runs up to 210 then comes back down,it only does that right after you start it then its fine

Check engine light can be any number of reasons, dirty air filter, need oil change, or more serious engine trouble. The temp gage issue is normal, this is the computer resetting itself. My car the fuel gage and temp gage do this...don't be alarmed. Take it to Advance Auto Parts and they can run a free engine diagnostics test on it to see which error code is tripping your check engine light.

Check engine light is on a 2002 lincoln continental what is the most common reason ?

well there are a variety of reasons. In many respects you have a sensor that is reading something. First, how is the car running? If it is hesitating, choking (missing as its called) then perhaps plugs. But if running well, could be air flow. That is what would be common. Your solution here is to have the vehicle scanned with a trouble code reader and you will know the code so you can isolate the issue. Many auto parts stores (ex-autozone) will scan free of charge. Need to know the code to know what is going on to clear that light.

I have a hyundai elantra 2003 and the engine ligth is on,

when the check engine light comes on it is often to alert you to something not running correctly. you may not always be able to recognize the issue for examble a common reason the check engine light comes on is the O2 sensor is going bad, may not be your issue but is very common. in that case your car will continue to run but not at its most efficient level. the amount of gas used is controled partally by the O2 sensor correctly recognizing how much oxygen is in your exhaust you may get worse gas milage but not by much and most people would not know to change sensor except if the dash light came on. you should have it checked, if the light flashes it is an emergency stop the car and call a service station to verify the severity. having the ligh stay on is not usually any reason for quick action just a warning.

Generally this would come on and the car still run fine if the Motor is Low on Oil. Check the Oil and Message me back if it is ok!

Check engine light

Check all of the connections to the ECM--twice.

Be sure the four-letter code on your replacement ECM matches the one you removed.

The ECM relies on calibrations performed on some sensors while at the factory. For that reason there may be a switch or a sensor that is reading out of range.

If it seems to be running fine, drive it for a while and get an accurate measurement of MPG. Poor MPG will indicate that things like O2 sensor, MAP/MAF, TPS, IAC, IAT are not reading properly. Check for codes with a OBD-I reader.
