Sounds like the control flap in the duct system that changes the airflow from heating to cooling has failed. It's not staying in place for heat to flow but returning to the cooling position.

How do I fix a thermostat that sticks and temp goes to 250 degrees on a 1999 Grand Am. I put a new thermostat in

New thermostats do not stick. With the radiator full and the cap off check for air bubbles at idle. blown head gaskets blow bubbles

Heater isnt blowing warm air in 2003 grand caravan

Assuming the radiator is full of coolant, you are describing a faulty thermostat. The thermostat is closed when the engine is cold to restrict coolant flow until it warms up.

My 01 grand am gt is overheating the cars heat will only blow cold air and alot of thick white smoke comes out of the exaust

White smoke is a sign of burining antifreeze. When heater is not blowing warm air, that is a sign of faulty heater core.
No power, coolant loss, overheating, is sign of headgasket leak.
Double check your thermostat as well.

I would suggest replacing the blower motor resistor. When this component fails the blower will only work on one spped or none. This is a very common issue with all automotive models
