Under the dash on the duct work for the air.. you will find a connector that goes into it... two or three screws will remove the item.... i call it a resister block... basically the switch allows different resisters to be be switched into the power line to the fan... that gives you different speeds... just take it to a parts store and they will be able to get one for you.... or a mazda dealer if you don't mind spending more.

Why is car overheating and upper radiator hose hissing and heater doesn't work after replacing water pump

the hose is leaking/split and the coolant level is low from a air blockage in the system. Find the highest point and undo the hose to let the air out . Open the heater to help bleed out the air. If not successful the have the system pressure bled.

I have a 2002 Cherokee Jeep CRD. When I turn on the heating, I have to turn it round to the highest level 4 to make it work. 123 do not work. do I have to buy a new unit

I am guessing that you are referring to the blower motor not moving air till the highest setting? If that's the case, there is a blower motor resistor part that handles voltage for all lower speeds. You can usually change this part without too much trouble. They're usually priced very reasonable from the dealer. Once you have it in your hand, you can look for it screwed into the heater case.

Cabin air fan will not turn on

Sounds like a blower motor resistor that is malfunctioning. It will cause the fan motor to only turn on at one speed, and generally it will work on High only. Pretty comon on and older vehicle, and fairly inexpensive.

TURN ON HEATER, FAN BLOWS BUT NO HOT AIR

Check coolant level. Some maxima's heater core were highest point in cooling system. Or hot water valve may not be functioning.I would start with checking the level first.

Air conditioning blowing only highest setting but HOT air

Sounds like your freon has leaked out and your heater blower resistor is burned out. Deffinitly take this to the dealer.

Air Conditioner Problem

I would use a multimeter and check if the voltage changes at the blower motor, as you turn up the blower speed on the controls. If it goes up, you need a blower motor. If not, the a/c amplifier.
