The remote control actually separates in half. Using a small flatblade screwdriver pry in the **** on the side of the remote turning the screwdriver left and right. The remote should separate into a part with the key and the other part which contains the battery. Use the key to pry up the battery cap on the second part by sliding the flat part of the key into the slot on the side. It should pop up exposing the battery. Assemble in reverse order. it's hard to explain without pictures so I hope you were able to understand my explanation.

Remote keyless entry

I assume you are talking about the key fob. First, pry it open and change the battery. Watch which way the + goes.
If your key fob works, and the battery did not fix it, try reprogramming following the instrcutions in the owner manual. May need both fobs present at the same time.
Note; This is different than programming the anti-theft key.

Keyless entry stopped working on 05 cobalt now i have to unlock door with the key and when i do that the alarm goes off. Help

Lock all the doors from the inside (with all the doors closed), unlock your driver's door by manually lifting the lock, then press it back down after you are out - this will prevent the alarm from sounding when you use the key to unlock the door.
