Question about 2002 Dodge Caravan
The Sway Bar bushings are located under the vehicle they are attached to the vehicle frame. The sway bar itself is attached to the front struts via the sway bar links. If you turn your wheels in either direction look behind the tire and you will see the strut, there attached to it is a link that looks like a 1/2 inch metal rod that comes down and is attached to the sway bar, follow the sway bar under the vehicle and you will see 2 clamps that hold the bar to the frame, inside those clamps is a piece of rubber, these are the sway bar bushings. These are relatively easy to replace with no special tools needed. Normally if the bushings are bad you will hear a clunking sound when you drive over bumps on the road at low or high speeds, check to make sure if the sway bar links are in good shape while you're at it. The sway bar is a bar that runs acrossed the front of the van from strut to strut. It is bolted to the cradel and then has links that run from the bar to the strut to increase stability. The sway bar bushings are rubber mounts that hold the bar down to the cradel. The bar runs though the mounts one each side where the bar and the cradel meet. If they are wore out you will normally hear a clucking noise from the front end when you hit bumps. To remove and replace them there is two bolts that hold a steel cap on top of them on each side. Remove the cap from both sides then the rubber mounts will have a split in them so you can get them off the bar. To install them is just the reverse of the removal. The bushings are easy to replace if you have a place to raise the vehicle safely and high enough to work under.
They are located on the front sway/stabilizer bar at the rear of the engine/transmission subframe.
The bushings wear and allow the bar to clunk, especially on small bumps and uneven road.
I have found that not only do the bushings wear but the metal of the bar as well. So replacement of the bushings does not always solve the clunk or the play.
You will need to undo the two clamps that hold the bushings/bar to the body.
Then what I often do is cut strips of rubber from an inner tube and add it to the outside of the bushing and reinstall the retainer clamps. This crushes the rubber of the bushing tight against the bar again.
I find that this is actually a better and longer lasting repair.

Had similar problem with 2003 Dodge GC. Replaced the parts you mention + rack & pinion, then to fix the now noticable whining noise, replaced power steering pump and pulley. Fortunately was under an extended warrentee at 46k miles.

Clunking noise in the rear of the vehicle is a broad statement. When is the vehicle doing it? Is it all the time or just over bumps? Is it happening only going around curves? Is it a constant bump that speeds up and slows down with the vehicle speed. You would be supprised how many clunking noises can come from the driveline not the suspension. It could be anything from a bushing to your rear differential getting ready to grenade.

You can do that in the ground but it is easier to have a jack handy to get the bolts to align back in the chassis by changing vehicle loading on bar. No special stuff I know of...

(Caution ) sway bar end is under pressure.
1.go to AutoZone get new linkage bars or just the bushings depends on wether the bar has grooves wore into them from use and new nuts. 2. Raise and safely support vehicle,3. remove tire, 4.using floor jack safely support the lower suspension arm and raise to remove pressure on the linkage bar between swaybar end and lower arm 5. remove the nut under the lower suspension arm that retains the swaybar linkage ,6. loosen and remove nut at swaybar end. 7.at this time only lower the lower suspension arm enough to remove the linkage bar. install new bushings or bar to the swaybar end don't completely tighten nut at this time.8. install new lower bushing then jack the lower suspension arm back up aligning the lower end of the linkage with the hole in the arm once pressure is lifting the swaybar install the lower nut and tighten at this time Torque top nut to35-47 Ft lb and bottom nut 8-10- Ft lb lower the jack from under the lower arm and install tire lower vehicle ready to go Appx 1 Hr per side
