This is not a muffler shop nor a parts store. it would be helpful if you would consult someone like that for estimates.

I have a 1997 chev cavalier, and as I was driving I heard a dragging noise, I looked under my car and the tube from the exhaust that connects to the muffler is off, what will i need to fix this, my brother...

Take your car to a muffler shop and ask them if it's possible to reweld the exhaust pipe to the muffler. If the exhaust has rusted too thin, they wont be able to weld it safely, at that point you will have to replace the entire system unfortunately. Exhaust systems comes in sections, so ask them if its possible for them to replace the exhaust from the catalytic converter back only. It should be cheaper if they can do that. Good luck!

Water is coming out from my tail exhaust pipe Ford Expedition 2003 4X4

When gasoline is burnt the products are carbon dioxide and water:- 2C8H18 (gasoline) + 25O2 (air) ----------> 18H2O (water) + 16CO2 (carbon dioxide) If you take short trips the water content will condense in the cold exhaust pipe and collect in the muffler boxes (silencers). At a certain point the water will fill the mufflers, overflow and begin to dribble out of the exhaust tail pipe. It is worthwhile to occasionally give your car a longer run to allow the exhaust to become sufficiently hot and to evaporate all the collected water. The water is acidic and hastens the corrosion of the exhaust pipes.

Where do I find a free pic or diagram of my exhaust, so I know what a part is.

any parts store will have an Exhaust catalog with diagrams for each vehicle. the individual components are listed with part numbers. You should have a head pipe that bolts to the manifolds, two (or more) cats, muffler(s) and a tailpipe. there are hangars, and ground straps as well.

Exhaust Pipe broke/Rust on muffler

Flex pipe will work, or if it's a straight section of pipe you can buy a universal piece of exhaust tubing with flared ends, trim off the rusty ends on your original pipe with a hacksaw or Sawzall and slip in the new section. Clamp it with 2 muffler clamps and you're set. Total cost should be under $40.

Took my expedition to a tranmission repair shop for a leak. They they inform me I need a totally new exhaust system (cost over $800.00), but when I brought it in, the pipe connected to the muffler had...

You can remove just the rusted sections, Usually the exhaust system from the engine back to the converter,is what is called 409 Stainless Steel. It gets a little rusty but never needs to be replaced. On some vehicles, you can remove everything from the converter back,as you believed was bad. That would be a pipe, then the new muffler, then the new tailpipe. Those three are carbon steel and rust, not Stainless. I would go to a close by repair shop and not a big franchise or chain. There pitch men. Not that they don't do good work. The $800.00 is the Ford parts price for a whole new system, end to end, which you never need. Some cars are all welded,so that's for another day. Yours should be clamped on at the converter. Most of the time the vehicle owner does not understand the terminology used and the people explaining it, are so used to abuse, from the motoring public, that they fail to educate you,on any level. The mufflers is about $100.00,the pipes about $35.00 ea, $250.00 Total, with labor.

I have a 1999 ford f150 exhaust pipe and muffler

did the flange come apart or did the pipe break, if the pipe broke then you will have to replace the system fron the flange back, these exhaust systems look good but corrode from the inside out, get a new system i will probably come in three pieces, and new hangers, its pretty straightforward

03 expedition used to stall after driving for an hour, now muffler is loud and it does not stall anymore

Sounds like your muffler and/or catalitic converter are plugged. maybe even the tailpipe.backed into any dirtbanks? now that the muffler is leaking the engine can exhale. look it over, check it out closely I think you'll find your problem.

Need to replace o2 sensors on a 1997 thunderbird

you will need to crawl under the car and look at the mufflers where they come out of the motor and behind the catalytic converter. you will probably have one before and after the catalytic converter on both pipes. You will have to count the wires once you find them. They will be screwed directly into the exhaust pipe.
