Well you are going to have to get underneath it and either release the locked up adjustment slider parts or unbolt the whole thing from the car. In any event I would pull it out, disassemble and clean the adjuster parts coat them with chain lube and reassemble. if it is a power seat then your best bet is to remove it and toss it; then go find a compatible manual jeep seat in a junk yard and bolt it down into the same mounting holes.

I don't know where the spare tire on my 1996 jeep grand Cherokee is located! And how to get it out

should be under a cover in the back compartment, lift the hatch and look for a place you can lift the panel for access. Unless you have a very special model that has it under the vehicle in the back(some rare police models and ones for south Americas)

Keyless remote 1996 jeep grand cherokee laredo programing

Instructions
  1. Programming the First Transmitter
    • 1

Unlock all of the Jeepicon1.png Grand Cherokee's doors and open the driver's side door. Keeping the door open, lock it using the manual lock on the door itself.

    • 2

Put the manual key into the ignition and switch it to the "On" or "Run" position, whichever applicable, without starting the engine.

    • 3

Point the remote at the receiver (located by the little bulb on the caricon1.png ceiling) and hold down the "Lock" button for up to 5 seconds.

    • 4

When the driver's side door unlocks, you know the remote has been programmed correctly. If you are only programming one remote, jump to the next step. If not, manually re-lock the driver's side door and repeat steps 5 and 6 using each remote you would like to program and then continue.

    • 5

Turn the key to the "Off" position and turn the ignition on immediately. This must be done within 20 seconds of programming the last remote. You're finished!

No owners manual. How do I get to the spare tire? Can't tell if I'm supposed to go through the floor in the back or under the car.

The spare tire in a 1996 Grand Cherokee is supposed to be bolted on the inside the rear trunk area, on the drivers side, not underneath the Jeep as you think. The only thing under there taking up all the space is the gas tank. If it's not in the back, then you don't have one. The jack and tire iron are located under the rear seats.
