First things to check - brake fluid level, wheel sensors (need car scan) try cleaning the castle rings on the inner wheel as if the gaps get filled the sensors cannot operate correctly.
Hope this helps good luck.

Disconnect batt see if it clears. Or unplug computr..clean connection pins...see if unit reboots. Dirty brake fluid can ruin abs module. To pinpoint du a datastream w a factory scantool and not at a dealer. Code readers dont give u numbrs for decision.

How to remove the abs ring on 1998 xj8

if it is a front ring remove front vertical link , you will see a spring locking device remove this a special tool is then needed to unscrew the abs ring if this is not availiable you try heating up the ring and using a drift, or drill down the side of the ring and splitting it with small chisel but you will need the special tool to fit the new one, they are TIGHTas they retain the hub bearing. if it is a rear one remove the rear hub carrier making sure you mark the track adjustment bolt to maintain rear wheel track. you should then be able to carefully remove the abs ring as it only trapped by the drive shaft, renew the hub nut

Dcs fault light comes on

Several possible causes = inspect in the order listed

1 Brakes need service/checking
2 ABS wheel sensor faulty, check condition and cable connections
3 ABS/DCS unit faulty

A good independant garage should be able to check the above quickly and cheaply, if you cannot.

Hope this helps - good luck.

DCS indicator always on...can not turn it off with dcs dash switch

what did you in install/ remove to install radio - there are many things that could have been disturbed to cause this light.
unfortunately the only correct way to clear the fault or find the problem would be to take it to a dealer.
If you were inder the dash, checked the wires to the steering angle sensor.

ABS and anti skid tracking control lights stay on in my BMW 523i

Unfortunately there are several possibilities that are common to causing the light to come on. I would suggest taking the car in to a dealer and having them read out the fault memory. Such possibilities are a failed speed sensor, a binding DSC/ACS actuator cable, or faulty DCS/ASC control unit. If you know how, you can disconnect the speed sensors, and check for voltage output across the the terminals inside the connector going to the speed sensor while rotating the wheel. A dealer should charge you about an 1hour fee to check out your system. Due to the cost of parts involved, I would recommend having it checked before just guessing.

Dcs and abs light staying on

car is sensing a problem with the stability control system (DSC) or the antilock brake system (ABS). usually an ABS problem will turn off the DSC, so DSC may be ok, just ABS needs a look at.

since its an '08 model, it should still be covered by the BMW warranty provided you live in the USA. take it in and have them fix it. not safe driving with both systems deactivated.
