Question about 2005 Dodge Neon

1 Answer

I recently had 2 motor mounts on my 2005 dodge neon replaced. After I got my car back, I noticed it was making a weird noise, can't quite describe it, just knew that I hadn't heard it before. Then yesterday, driving home in the rain, I noticed my car making a really loud kinda squeeling/squeaking type noise and then a clunk type noise and then the power steering stopped working, it's like driving an old standard. Do you think this will be a major repair or could it be simply I need power steering fluid? Do you think the shop who repaired the motor mounts could have done something where maybe the power steering hose got pinched and that's why it went out? Please advise. I wnat to research this before I go back to the shop. Thank you.

I also had my engine mounts replaced on my 2005 Dodge Neon. I have the same sound going on right now. When I spoke to a Auto Parts guy, he looked at it and said it was my tension-er pulley, and that when it runs out of grease it is a screeching noise and will be metal on metal. If you are looking at the front side of your car at the hood. It is the belt and pulley's that are on the left of the engine. (other side of battery). The tension-er pulley is the almost triangle looking piece located behind the back side of the belt.

They belt not being tight enough could also be why when I start my car, it seems to be rough starting.

I plan on getting this fixed ASAP. Perhaps your's went out and is now why the difficult steering.

I know this is not a solution, but it might help.

Loud Vibration / Sound Under Acceleration And Starting Engine.

Get the engine mounts checked. A bad mount may allow part of the engine to lie on a body or frame part, allowing engine vibrations to become very loud. Torquing of the engine (under load) can cause the same type problems.

My 2004 dodge neon sxt makes a loud grinding and rattling noise when i accelerate. the car is vibrating

I had the same problem with a Saturn I had and I would check the motor mount. If its coming loose it can damage a lot of other things costing more than what you would need.

How to replace a engine mount on dodge neon 05

There are 4 motor mounts on a Neon. You need a jack to support the bottom of the motor with a block of wood on it. 2 are easily replaceable, but there is one that goes to the middle of the front of the engine that is tricky, plus the transmission mount is accessed after removing several components, like the battery and tray. It may be better to have a professional take care of those "tricky" mounts.

I have a sound coming from the right front wheel. It sounds like I am running over a rumple strip. I noticed the tire was worn so I had it replaced. The sounds still persits after putting on a new tire and...

Yes, it could be a bad wheel bearing. If the tire was worn irregularly, have the alignment checked, you dont want to wear out your new tires. Tire balance is another thing, like vibrations above 25-30 mph. But a tire balace problem wont make noise.

2005 dodge noen cam sensor

I own a 2002 neon sxt and recently had to replace the cam sensor it should be in the same place.
look on the right side of the motor you should see it. it'll have a small wire harness that clips in the top and its fastend with 4 bolts. Oh and take the battery out before you do it it makes it a lot easier.

Hope this helps.
