Car starts and dies immediatley soon as i start my car it dies kind of reminds me of when the older cars had ballist resister problems

There's an "igniter" module located inside the distributor and that is more than likely bad.

that's all in the electrical ignition if you have that funkey electrical box with a 5 pin plug in its called a power control moudel and that's the problem im sure , you can bypass ballist resister by just pluging wires together , for testing only not for running , it helps cool power to coil., if you need more info get back to me here , I know mopar Very well.

You haven't given much detail about the car but long crank is normally associated with flooding. Dying out as well may occur due tyo too much fuel. CHECK FOR THAT.

You have several different problems.
First, the starter...if you are hearing a loud "click" several times before the starter engages and cranks the engine, you have a bad starter solenoid and you need to replace your starter.

The dying problem could be caused by a WHOLE LIST of things. It could be anything from a bad Idle Air Control (IAC) motor to a fuel pump that works when it wants to, or a bad Crankshaft Position sensor circuit, etc. Unless it sets a fault code in the computer or does it on a regular basis, you will probably never figure this one out.

The Change Oil light is simple: You just need to reset your oil change reminder. Sometimes it doesn't get reset when the oil change gets done and then comes on only a few miles after an oil change. This is very common - it even happens at my shop sometimes. If the oil change reminder light is not on when a customer brings the car to me for an oil change, I don't think to reset it. Not all cars have them, and of those that do, half the customers reset the light themselves. I simply do not always take the time to look it up and see if it even has one. They are different depending on what kind of vehicle you have, so I cannot tell you how to reset yours because you forgot to mention what kind of vehicle you have...YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, ENGINE SIZE, etc. (This would be nice to know if you really want help fixing your car.)

Check your fuel pressure on the fuel rail, it sound like it might be a fuel supply problem

My security light has been on for a while. now my car wont start and when it does it will reverse but when i put it in first and start driving it dies as soon as i get a couple hundred feet.


It sounds like there 2 problems with the car The security light will not cause the car to die It will keep the car from starting. and the most likely problem is the Ignition lock cylinder wires are broken. At the bottom of the steering column there will be an orange wire with 2 white wires coming out of it. dis connect the connector and connect an digitial ohm meter across the 2 wires and test for resistance.The resistance should match the resistance of the resistor that is on the key (black pellet). If the wires ohm open with the key in the ignition or go to open when turning the key then the ignition lock cylinder will need to be replaced

I have a 1984 dodge ramcharger, with a 2 barrel holley carb. he starts but shortly after shuts down. if we try again it is flooding. we put a nother carb and he still dose the same thing. while we r trying...


i had a similar problem with mine. try replacing the spark plugs. that seemed to do the trick for me. i no longer have any problems starting mine.

Battery drain... fuse blew - connect to ballist resister


Do you know anyone with a ammeter? You need to hook one up to the battery to check for draw. If the draw with the key off is more than .025 amps, then pull one fuse out at a time till the draw goes away. When it goes away, that will tell you what circuit to check. Hope this helps. As for fuse #3, I would have to look at a wiring diagram for that.

2000 galant, it will start but cut right back off!


My car does this when I use my key that the computer chip AKA (VATS) is messed up it will start then immediatly die. The car will start without a working vats key then immediatley die.

The chip is inside they key and isn't visible

For a older car like yours, sometime sick just like an older people. Car is different, if you can find the reason why cause this kind problem, as soon as you fix it, it will run for a while, but it is not easy, I think when you drive for a while, the engine is hot and inside is over heated, the ring on the piston expanded, that’s cause the engine stalled, after 10 to 15 minutes, the engine cool down, it will start and drive a short distance again and wait until the engine getting hot again, it will stall again.

How do you solve this problem, go to junk yard and find a low mileage engine put in or rebuild your engine.
