Have you changed your gas station? I am not getting good fuel mileage when I fuel at cheaper gas stations. Try Exxon or BP and see if that changes anything.

What is the average fuel consumption of a 1996 Toyota Tamarax FX GL Wagon?

do you want to figure out how to figure yours out. a 20 year old car nothing is going to be average. to get it better lose some weight in the car. meaning don't carry 500 lbs of stuff you don't need. the less it weights the less the engine has to work which saves gas use. fill your tank normal till the pump shuts off and don't pull the handle to add more fuel. then write down the mileage. drive the car 200 miles. fill the tank again the same way. then figure out the miles you drove and how much gas you put in the tank. if you drove 200 miles and used 10 gallons you get 20 miles to the gallon. doing a tune up and checking your air in the tires can increase the mileage. good idea to check it first before doing the tune up to show it did some good. I did a tune up once and got almost 5 more miles to the gallon after

1999 buick century 85,000 miles Getting poor fuel economy using 87 octane. keep tires inflated properly new air filter changed spark plugs(not wires) and 1 of the o2 sensors Mechanic said only 1 sensor...

When you do a tune up you should replace the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, airfilter, and fuel filter, this will insure that you get the best mileage. Also have the coil checked, for proper resistance. If it starts to get weak it will throw a lower than normal voltage spark. You can not look at spark plug wires and tell if they are good, this can only be done with an ohm meter. The resistance should be 3000 to 6000 ohms per foot of wire. One other note is if your car feels sluggish or lacks power is to check the catalitic converter. These clog up and stop air flow thru the engine. There are many many things on cars that will result in poor gas mileage. A good mechanic doesn't go by just the codes a car spits out, they have to read the numbers and diagnose what is wrong.

1997 buick century 84500 miles regular maintanance, oil change every 3000 miles. son taking trip in it. never had radiator flushed, plugs changed, transmission fluid changed, should i have concerns on...

Yes, this is very important maintenance procedures. Transmission should be serviced (filter, oil, and oil pan gasket replaced) @ 60K miles, plugs at 100K miles (I'd replace them early for better gas mileage), and radiator flushed @ 60K miles. Hopefully this helps!!

Im only getting 10 miles to the gallon on my '92 buick century, although i'm not leaking anything

I would suggest checking the catlalytic converter. It could be plugged really bad. This could be the culprit to your poor gas mileage. Hope this helps!!

1992 buick century(26,500 original miles)engine shuts down but starts up, no problem Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

As this vehicle is obviously driven around 1,500 miles per year, you may have moisture in the tank from it sitting for long periods of time with a half empty tank of fuel. Start by changing the fuel filter. Purchase a can of Seafoam Motor Tune and pour 1 can in a full tank of fuel. This is an excellent fuel stabilizer, moisture remover, and fuel system cleaner. After one tank of fuel if you see no improvement then look for another problem.

Poor gas mileage

I hope your friend put some gas stabilizer in the tank before he store the car.

I will put one bottle of ISO-HEET (red bottle) to the fuel tank + fill-up and let it run down to 1/3 tank.

Fuel up with a full tank Chevron gas for one more pass.

You should get 21 city / 26 highway on the PT 2.4 Liter engine.

take 2 miles off if it's an automatic.

Poor gas mileage

Do you have a gas smell in vehicle if you do there check and make sure that you are NOT loosing gas by a leak in the fuel line that was replaced or anyother part of the fuel sytem for that fact. If there is NO leak then the pressure from the pump may be too high and therefore dumping too mucj fuel into chambers but if this is true the vehicle may have a hesitation on take off or may run a little roughand a rich burning smell from exhaust, Check these things out make sure that the fuel pressure at the injector rail is correct refer to your repair manal for exact specs, because I NOT sure what it its, good luck and thanks for using FIX YA
