Question about 2004 Saab 9-3

1 Answer

2004 saab linear turbo. passenger headlight does not light on low beam. does light on high bea (full voltage) wiring is good, fuse is good, bulb is good. What controls the dropped voltage for the low beam and where is it located? currently get .22-.26 volts at the connector for low beam and full 12v at high beam. Only passenger side is affected.

can i remove the headlamp assy without taking off the bumper skin? Ihave a ground connection at the headlight connector, but I will check G31 anyway.

  • paul69353 Dec 30, 2010

G31, the heavy ground behind the headlight assy is fine, as also evidenced by the fact that the light works fine under high beam or "main beam" condition. Where does the reduced voltage for the 'dimmed' beam eminate from? What is that voltage supposed to be?

No power to right side (PS) headlight low beam plug socket, new bulb, fuse is good. High beam works, blinker works, park light works. just no low beam and doesn't register any voltage on volt meter.

check low beam fuse when switched on if it has voltage registering across the fuse ,if there is voltage across the low beam RHS fuse then it is possibly a pinched wire from the headlight running back towards inside of the car

My passenger side headlight does not work properly, and I cannot understand why. There are several oddities about it: 1. The bulb does not illuminate in low beams, but it works in high beams. 2. I've...

Did you check the ground wire for that light? Using your voltmeter, put the positive probe on the battery terminal and your negative lead to the pin/socket that provides ground for the lamp. If you are reading 0 volts, you need to check the ground wire for proper grounding.

Low Beam Drivers Side doesn't work ... low voltage,

Power for the headlights on the Left side (High and low beam.) comes from the same fuse... The ORANGE wire and the ORANGE/BLACK are the same, they connect in the harness. If you only lack the 12v to make the light work connect them at the headlight assembly.

If your low beam also lacks ground the Left low beam ground is shared with the right low beam ground... Run a wire from left low beam DARK BLUE to right low beam DARK BLUE/WHITE.

If its not working now then your cursed, seek a witch doctor.

My passenger side low beam headlight is out. the driver side low beam headlight works fine. I replaced the bulb and the headlight still doesn't work. What should I look at next?

Check the fuse. There are seperate fuses for right and left. You dont mention if the high beam works for that side? If it does, the fuse is good. The GREEN wire at the bulb is the ground for the low beam. If that wire has power, then the ground is bad. If the high beam works, the hi'lo beam switch is good, and there is a problem between that headlight and the Engine Compartment Junction Block

Low beam dosent work. bulb is good highbeam works cant find fuse for lights. its not underhood

Hi,
It has been because the lamp bulb or halogen lamp module has reached the end of its serviceable life, not because of any wiring problems. Low beam burns out first because it is on the most. If low beam is lost simultaneously in both headlights, I would check fuse first, then the headlight switch. If low beam is lost on one side only, it is almost always going to be due to the bulb or lamp module needing to be replaced. In that case, replace them in both headlights because the other one will be going kaput in short order, as well.
Most like the low beam filiment is bad but the high beam filiment is still good, try replacing bulb. If replacing bulb does not fix problem then you probably have voltage problems and should check the voltage reading and the plug.
OR
isolate the wire that comes from the headlight switch to the headlamp bulbs for low beam and check to see if there is a short in the wire. You can find this wire by using a test light turn on the key and get a good ground with the test light poke the wire and see if the test light illunimates with the headlight switch on.
check the wires, and check the fuse for your lowbeams. could of blown a fuse on your lows, but your highs will still work.

The fuse box is located in the engine compartment,on the driver's side. Has thumb-screw retained cover.

2004 Nissan Altima passenger side low beam

Hi,
Just a thought... If with the bulb not burning, you can verify that the voltage supply wire is "hot" and you know the bulb is good, you probably just have a grounding issue. If you can check the ground wire against the hot wire and get voltage, I'd suspect the problem is in the bulb socket or socket connection.
I bet you can figure it out... :o)
Hope this helps... I hate paying big bucks for dealership repairs too. Good luck!
