There is a resistor block that controls the speed of the fan...it is usually located somewhere near the fan and has 3-6 wires on it...it may be shorted and needs replacement

Air condition and heat won't work

Check to see if you are getting voltage to the blower motor if you are the motor is bad if not check the fan speed switch. 1 2 3 or low medium high if you get voltage going to the switch but not from replace the switch if you have voltage from switch check the blower motor resistor the although with the blower resistor you commonly have a high fan speed in the max setting and the lower speed settings don't work wich would make you think 1 2 3 are not working but 4 is. That is why it is best to check all parts to make sure the part you do replace needed to be replaced

Need to change the switch that works high, medium, and low. It is a separate switch mounted usually behind the glove box or somewhere under the dash. Hope this helps, Mitchell.

My 2000 sunfire overheats like at a stoplight are sitting on

you need to check your coolant level and add coolant if you are low. if this still does not fix it you need to change your thermostat. the water is not being cooled down and the water is being ran through the engine block non stop beacuse the thermostat is stuck in the open position. for a quick fix and too keep ur engine from blowing the headgasket run your heater full blast at a stop light this will help the coolant cool down a bit.
