Your altenator may be going bad. you can have it checked for free at any autozone or advance auto parts stores. usually thats the problem.the altenator has a built in voltage regulator that may be sticking at times. if it does check good, still keep an eye on your amp guage.thank you for choosing

Hi I just have a question about my 2003 ford escape when I accelerate on my gauges move all around like crazy

Eddie, sounds like a bad connection to Gage display, if your comfortable doing so, maybe reach up under dash and feel for loose plug and push on if any found loose, while your down there, if you notice any grounds to body, loosen screw and re tighten to make a new connection.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button. Check out some of my other posts if you need more tips and info.

2003 ford escape over heats while idleing

There are a few things which should be happening to prevent both problems.

There is a fan relay which senses heat and then turns on the electric cooling fan. Around this time, an idle control should cause the RPM to increase to help circulate the water in the engine.

Sounds like the engine is getting too lean to run because these automatic controls are not working. The hot engine is running lean.

01 Ford Escape Random Misfiring Running Rough

You'll have to figure out if it is fuel or ignition related to proceed.
Could be injector problems, or spark problems.
Did you have the computer scanned for trouble codes ?

I recently bought a 2003 Ford Escape it has approx. 170,000kms. When I first bought the car it was pretty good on fuel, as of recently the car eats gas like crazy. I have had the car almost 5 months.

The reason is that no vehicle requires anything added to it

Those products don't do anything but take your money

16 oz in an 18 gallon tank is too weak to be of any benefit

You need to install new spark plugs ,new front O2 sensors.

Spark plugs wear & are good for about 3 years
O2 Sensors control fuel injector pulses & slow down
at 100,000 miles, then fail at some point

You could do the fuel & air filter

The vehicle is used,so you apply all your past knowledge
& go thru the entire vehicle,ALL Fluids, trans, power steering
gear oil etc

Very seldom is a vehicle ever worked on or serviced.

I could write a book here but don't want to hurt your feelings

I would spend a month on any used vehicle before I ever
used it
That would require about 120 hours labor, but I do all
my own work.

The exhaust converter is only a couple years from replacement
12 to 14 years for that

You have fuel consumption issues,so then the converter is near
it's end & ignition issues would be a concern for me,& again it
is a ford product, actually a Mazda engine,so that is another
area to run some tests on

You need a road test with a professional scan tool to look
at data, fuel trim & cylinder misfire counts to get on top of
your issues

This must be one of those disposable guage/can things. Are you really going to trust a disposable guage? If the clutch wouldn't engage at all,and after adding some refrigerant,it engages erratically,it's probably still low on charge.Keep adding refrigerant while the system is running, until the compressor cycling becomes more normal.I like to place a box fan up against the grill to blow air over the condensor,to simulate the air flow created by the vehicle driving down the road. This lowers the temperature and pressure of the high side, allowing the refrigerant to flow in faster. You might also want to put a thermometer in the center dash duct to monitor the duct termperature.

02 chevy express headlights flash

Ya got me confused now!!! You have post a question about an 2002 Chevrolet Express under the heading of 2003 Ford Escape.....

I would recommend reposting your question in a manner that will alleviate such confusion and be a little more specific about the symptoms regarding your headlamps...When do they do it? Are the going completely out and coming back on? Or are they just going bright and dim? Are there any other accessories being operated when this happens? Is there any aftermarket equipment such as alarm systems installed on the vehicle? etc. etc.....

I did not drive my 2003 Escape for two months. It worked fine this morning. Then driving home to night it was almost stalling at the stop signs. Driving along the Highway it had no power at was very jerky...

Get the code, any time you get a MIL Lamp on dash

Jerky--could be EGR Valve

Need the vehicle to diagnose issues, can not guess

Ignition coils a big ford problem, for over 14 years running.
They like to sell them that way

Fan turns on and off all the time

It is normal for the fan to cycle between on and off even though the temperature gage reads normal.
Anytime the coolant temperature rises by approximately 10 degrees above the normal operating temperature the fan cycles on but you won't notice the gage show that small of an increase.
