Clean the snow off the widows completely. they also may have frozen to the window. a very common problem. try lifting up on the wipers, each one to see if they will come on.if this does'nt help, look for a blown wiper fuse. hope this helps and never pour warm or hot water on your window to remove snow or ice!thank you for choosing fixya.com

2001 Subaru Outback- my wipers stopped working in the middle of a snowstorm.

You will need to inspect the wiper transmission (this is the part the electric motor turns that swipes the wipers across the window) under the cowl in front of the windshield, it has most likely broken or come loose from link rod or the motor shaft connection came loose.

A6 wipers

How do you know motor is fine, you jumped a wire across from battery to motor? if what you say is correct then it has to be the wiper control switch, if when u jump wire across and motor turns but not wipers the the attachment from motor to wiper assembly is stripped, disassemble and find if it's shaft or plate that's stripped happens when people don't clean windows off from snow ice and just turn wipers on.

Windshield wipers do not work. Car sat one day. Worked fine previously. 2004 Nissan Maxima. Had about 3" snow. No ice on car. Temp around 32 or 33 degrees. Brushed snow from car. Came off...

when you turn the wipers on do you hear any sound? If so, then you may have disconnected a ball joint in there behind the firewall - typically the top (black) panel (under the wipers/ at the back of the hood) comes off or you could find other access to inspect more thoroughly to be sure. If no sound, test the power to the wiper motor with a test light, if no power, check fuses, wiring, ground, etc.,
Best regards

Snow on windows and wife turned on wipers and they didn't come on 20006 maxima ..

wipers dont do very well in ice and snow after the snow and ice was cleared did they work again if not check fuse if fuse is good
First: is it the wipers, wiper arms or motor that is at fault? Most times it is the ball joint piece that comes off, disabling the wipers, and the motor is still good. This reauires replacement of the wiper arm mechanism that has the "socket" on the end, a plastic part. If it is the motor, read on... The motor is located on the passenger side, mounted on the firewall. It "connects" to the arms that move the wipers via a ball joint. The wiper arm has a plastic part that has to be "popped" off the ball of the motor to be able to remove the motor. It simply snaps back on. You facillitate this by removeing the black plastic air vent screen that runs across the engine are near the window. After removing this you will see the arms that control wiper movement. It helps to "undo" the ball/socket if the motor is loose also. Install is just the reverse.

The winshield wipers stopped working on my 2006 kia sportage during a snow storm. how do i fix them

Did you check the fuse? (most likely culprit) Sometimes during heavy snow the motor gets overloaded gets hot and blows the fuse.

Wipers stopped working .. got gas, then stated the car, wipers wont work. Its 28Degrees and snowing.. whats up

There was probably melted snow around the wiper arm bottoms and there was just enough heat from the engine compartment to keep it melted, when you stopped for gas the heat went away and it froze solid. get the car good and warmed up and lay a thick towel or blanket over the wipers and the cowl area and let it sit for awhile and build up some heat in there and see if they start working again. also turn heat on defrost so you are heating it from both sides.

My windshield wipers stopped working after a big snow storm. (1997 Jeep Cherokee)

You should check your fuses first. What may of happened is that the wiper motor could be frozen if the wiper arms are frozen in ice. Another thing that may of happened is that the wipers were used to clear the windshield instead of clearing it manually. When that is done if there is too much snow or it is a heavy snow the wiper motor will burn up or go bad due to the fact that it does not have enough power to do such things.

2001 sonata wiper fuse keeps blowing

If the fuse blows as soon as you put it in and the wipers are off then you have a short between the fuse block and the wiper switch.

If the fuse blows only when you turn the wipers on then more than likely the wiper motor has shorted and burned out. This one is very likely if the snow storm was heavy and you was driving in it. Cause- Moving large amounts of snow and ice off the window puts a heavy load on the wiper motors.
