Dougnuts are never a good thing. the front seal on transmission could be leaking,if so the fluid will be red.it will drip down between the engine and transmission. if so, the transmission will need to come out fo r a replacement of front transmission seal. if it's clear fluid,it may be a bad steering rack. if it's black oil, it could be a bad rear main engine seal. if bad rear main seal, that transmission will need to come out for replacement of rear main engine seal.a abd rear main engine seal will also leak down between the engine and transmission and be black oil. check for color of the fluid leaking to give you a starting point to diagnose what to look for. thank you for choosing fixya.com

My 85 honda accord is blowing white smoke out of the exhaust pipe in the rear and it appears to have something dripping onto the heat shield under the car, what do you think could be the problem?

check the brake system for any leaks. check the master cylinder for leaking out the rear of it. if you take the master cylinder nuts of that hold it to the power brake booster and slide the master off the booster and look at the rear of the master to check for a fluid leak or dampness. if you see this replace the master cylinder. also sometimes the power booster will suck the fluid were its drawn into the engine and burnt and the smoke will look white. another thing that causes white smoke is a bad head gasket as the coolant is sucked into the combustion chamber and burnt, it can also leak externally and cause the dripping you see.

Odd smell from engine

If you have been (revving the car/racing/accident/excessive speeding) you will smell something similar to burning oil from the engine, also if it has been more than 10,000kms (6000 mile) since last oil change you should get it serviced.

When I start my car first time for the day I have a red fluid dripping

where does it drip from? could be PAS fluid or gearbox oil so check the common places where they would leak, i.e seals and pipes. cant see why a battery would leak red fluid but might as well check that too

WHILE DOING AN ENGINE OIL CHANGE I DRAINED THE AUTO TRANS FLUID BY MISTAKE. HOW DO I RE'FILL THE TRANS ?

Fluid Level Checking & Filling To Check:
  1. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle to read ATF temperature. ATF checking temperature should be 95° - 113°F (35° - 45°C).
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. Place a drain pan under the transmission.
  5. Allow the ATF temperature to reach 95° - 113°F (35° - 45°C). Automatic transmission fluid inspection plug vw-07-00-7273.gif

  6. Remove the inspection plug from the transmission housing. Fluid is pipe will run out. If fluid continues to drip out, no additional fluid is needed. If only the fluid in the overflow pipe runs out, additional fluid is needed.
To Fill:
Automatic transmission fluid filler pipe vw-07-00-7274.gif

  1. Pry the cap from the filler pipe. The cap locking device will be destroyed during removal.
  2. Pull the plug from the filler pipe.
  3. Add fluid slowly with VAG 1924 or equivalent until fluid runs out of the inspection hole. Install the inspection hole plug.
  4. Install the plug in the filler pipe and secure with a new cap.

1991 freelander stalling

on the inlet manifold is a breather from the engine i think on this year so check for a split vacumn hose or a split breather pipe ,failing which it could be the thingy on the back end of the butterfly ,their is a sensor but iam pretty sure its a breather pipe or something stupid ,also pull the vac pipe out of the servo and just try pùtting a plug into pipe in case the servo diaphram has split

Car leaks somethings when first starts--shut engine off and restart no leak Can smell some sort of gas fumes Had radiator checked-it's fine Recently had water pump, fuel pump replaced, tune up and some...

might be a small split or loose circle clip on a pipe, which would leak a little as pressure builds then lowers again. try letting your car run for 10 mins on a level dry piece of ground then look under it for any dripping or puddles or fluids.

Hydrolic clutch makes grinding noise when in nutural...

It's the throw out bearing. They probably call it a Clutch Release Bearing.

Envision a round large thick tube. On this tube put a bearing at the end of it. Now put a thick metal doughnut on that bearing. The thick metal tube stays stationary, and the metal doughnut spins.
The bearing this 'metal doughnut is riding on, is bad.

Solution? Have this throw-out bearing replaced.

Brake Problem on 2004 VW Passat

You have to get CV Boots replaced, this happens because they split. What happen was something got stuck inside the axel where the little boots is held on and split that little piece of rubber (its easy to do). As a result, fluid leaks and and spashes on the back tires so you never know it happens. When you make turns the car will make a clicking noise. You can add fluid but, it will continue to leak out if those boots are split so, you have to replace the boots. I had to replace the boots and axel because the boots come on the axel. Its an expensive project. Boots, axel and labor $500 starting if you go through the dealer. Also, if you have an extended warranty they won't cover it because there is no time frame when these boots split it just something that can happen. Honestly, they know this is something common especially if you drive through snow.
