Question about Volkswagen Golf

Open Question

I have a volkswagen golf 2005 2.0 GT FSI Sport and i cant release the bonnet as the catch just wont release. Trying so hard to release the bonnet i snapped the plastic leaver on the drivers side. This then left the cable still intacked. I have tried pulling the cable with various tools but no joy. So this means the bonnet catch must be stuck or seized. Please help

the bonnet cable should be a 2 piece system, trace the cable from the lock and you should find the join, undo and try again to lock manually with a screwdriver.possibly the cable could be siezed.

if the cable has snapped then you will need a very long screwdriver/rod to go from underneath the car to the release catch,it is a nasty job that will give you "hours of fun",you unscrew the bonnet adjuster by the way.

You may need a tune up . When was the last time you changed plug wires and had a decent tune up that will cause a vehicle to jerk when reaching higher gears the more strain on the engine the more it will jerk!!!

VW mk4 golf bonnet wont release.

You need to spray WD40 on the catch and leave it for 24 hours, then lay under the car and try and pull the cable with a pliers its a pain but can be done as i did.

I have a mk5 gold tdi. I can't close the bonnet. it seems the catch isn't working correctly. any ideas?

Lubricate and adjust the release cable, latch and at the button. Adust the hood itself if it looks bent or out of line. Sometimes a body shop person can get the metal to fit more snugly.

Renault clio bonnet wont open

Get a second person to pull bonnet catch and you push up and down on the bonnet whilst catch is being pulled. 1, cable possibly stretched, 2, look at bonnet catch under the coloum to see if wire is attached, 3, try and lie under car and look up the back of the bulkhead to see the catch and release it manually. Hope that helps.

Ant open bonnet

Hopefully the cable has not snapped. Have someone else lean on the bonnet a little. (Not too much or you will dent it) Try and operate the catch while they are leaning and releasing. Or sometimes dust can accumulate on the catch. Perhaps you can spray under the bonnet with a can of WD40 and hit the catch. Try the above trick again after you have sprayed it. Once you get it open find the cause before you close it again :)
