Question about Hyundai Accent

When I remove the dipstick immediately after topping the engine there is oil still present. After cleaning and re-inserting the dipstick it comes out dry. Removing the oil filler cap I find there is a pool of oil level with the bottom edge of the filler cap.

Engine full of gunk and muck ,needs a good flush out and then change oil every 6000miles with a filter every third oil change

201 Lincoln 4.6 v8,no oil pressure,was fine when shut off last nite this morning no oil pressure??


Do not run engine further. The indicator light shows oil pressure but not oil level. You could be out of oil.

Check your oil level immediately--with the engine off, open hood, remove dipstick, wipe it clean. Insert it and extract it again. The oil level.should be between the Fill and Add lines. If it is lower than that, add oil, a quart at a time, until it reaches the proper level.

If the oil level is okay, then the engine needs to be repaired. You could have a broken oil pump, clogged intake screen, or some other internal engine failure. Do not drive the car to a shop. Have it towed.

Checking oil level on my V3 Vortech dipstick is located on side of unit . Pics available


The dipstick tube should be as high as the top of the engine, and you should be able to remove the dipstick from it by simply pulling it straight out (no unscrewing).
No oil should come out because engine oil only goes up about a third 1/5th the way inside the engine. So unless it is overfilled, you shouldn't worry about pulling the stick up and out.
Check the oil level with the car on level ground, and with it turned off for at least 10 minutes so all the extra oil drips down to the bottom of the engine first. Then pull the stick straight up and out, wipe all the oil off of it using a paper towel or clean tissue, then put the dipstick back in (you may need to turn it left or right just a little bit to help it past some of the bends in the tube). Push it ALL the way in, then pull it straight back out again. Look for the oil sticking to it at the bottom. You should see a clear line somewhere between the full and fill lines.
If it is low, but there is at least SOME oil, take it to a Jiffy Lube and have them check and top it off. IF there is NO oil on the stick, you should not start it until some oil is added.
I cannot go in to how to add oil here as it is different on different cars - but you do NOT put oil into the dipstick hole.

How to check trans oil level and condition


  • There is a 8mm or 10mm plug on the back of the transmission (underneath the car) When you pull that plug if fluid comes out then it it full. If not you add fluid until it just barely comes out that hole and then the transmission is full.
  • Now you add fluid from the top of the transmission. You have to look way down in the engine bay on top of the transmission for a red or black cap. It may say "do not open" or "open by a technician only." Take and pull that cap off and this is the fill spout for the transmission. It's a fill only, not a check. Add from this spout until it comes out that little plug on the back of the transmission.
  • You will hear people call this a "sealed" transmission of "non-serviceable." Now you can tell them rubbish lol.
  • To check the condition you can look to see if it is getting black or smells burnt. After 50,000 miles the fluid needs flushed and after 100,000 miles you need to change the filter and gasket for the transmission.

Need to replace oil pan on a bmw 2004 330ci


Raise engine with special tool 00 0 200 approx. 5 mm.
- Remove suction filter housing. Remove engine splash guard.
- Drain engine oil. On vehicles with automatic transmission:
- Disconnect oil lines from automatic transmission and from oil pan.
- Release guide tube for dipstick.

Note: M52TU and M54 only.
- Detach return hose from cyclone oil separator on oil dipstick guide tube.
- Replace O-ring.
- Remove front end reinforcement.
- Detach steeling spindle from steering gear.
- Remove vane pump for power steering unit (lines remain connected).
- Disconnect plug connection to oil level sensor.
- Loosen top and unfasten bottom of left and right engine mounts.

E46 4WD only
- Remove left and right swivel bearings.
- Remove output shafts. Remove front propeller shaft.
- Remove front axle differential.
- Detach brackets for left and right control arms from engine carrier.
- Release retaining brackets for left and right stabilizer bars.
- Unfasten screw connection on front axle support and lower the front axle support.

Note: There is no need to detach the steering gear from the front axle support.

- Unfasten oil sump screws at transmission and engine ends.
- Lower and remove oil sump.
Sealing faces clean and free of seal debris.
Apply approx.3 mm wide, 2 mm high coat of Drei Bond 1209 sealing agent to the area around seams.

Installation:
  1. Replace gasket
  2. Install oil sump.
  3. Insert all oil sump screws.
  4. Insert screws in transmission end without preload at this stage.
  5. Tighten down screws in engine end.
  6. Tighten down screws in transmission end.

E60 Removing And Installing, Sealing Or Replacing Oil Sump (M54)

Necessary preliminary tasks. -
- Remove intake filter housing
- Remove guide tube for oil dipstick
- Lowering front axle support
- Drain off engine oil
- Disconnect plug connection to oil level sensor.

On vehicles with automatic transmission:
- Detach oil lines from automatic transmission and from oil pan.
- Unfasten oil pan screws at transmission and engine ends.
- Lower and remove oil pan.

Installation:
Sealing faces clean and free of seal debris.
Apply approx.3 mm wide, 2 mm high coat of Drei Bond 1209 sealing agen to the area around seams.

Installation:

  1. Replace seal.
  2. Install oil sump.
  3. Insert all screws on transmission end, without preload at this stage.
  1. Tighten down screws on engine end.
  2. Tighten screws on transmission end.

How long and easy is it to rebuild oil pump on 94 grand caravan 3.8l


Don't bother. Replace the unit.
3.0 liter
The oil pump assembly used on this engine is mounted at the front of the crankshaft. The oil pump also retains the crankshaft front oil seal.
  1. Remove the accessory drive belts.
  2. Remove the timing belt cover and timing belt. Refer to the timing belt removal and installation procedures in this section.
  3. Remove the crankshaft sprocket.
  4. Remove the oil pump mounting bolts (5), and remove oil pump assembly. Mark mounting bolts for proper installation during reassembly.

To install:
  1. Clean the oil pump and engine block gasket surfaces thoroughly.
  2. Position a new gasket on pump assembly and install on cylinder block. Make sure correct length bolts are in proper locations and tighten all bolts to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
  3. Install the crankshaft sprocket and timing belt. Recheck engine timing marks.
  4. Install the timing belt covers. For more details, refer to the timing belt cover installation procedures.
  5. Install the accessory drive belts.
  6. Refill the crankcase and start the engine.
  7. Check for correct engine oil pressure and for any oil leakage.
3.3 and 3.8 liter engines


  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the dipstick.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support safely. Drain the oil and remove the oil pan.
  3. Remove the oil pickup.
  4. Remove the chain case cover.
  5. Disassemble the oil pump as required.

To install:
  1. Assemble the pump. Tighten the cover screws to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
  2. Prime the oil pump by filling the rotor cavity with fresh oil and turning the rotors until oil comes out the pressure port. Repeat a few times until no air bubbles are present.
  3. Install the chain case cover.
  4. Clean out the oil pickup or replace as required. Replace the oil pickup O-ring and install the pickup to the pump.
  5. Install the oil pan.
  6. Install the dipstick. Fill the engine with the proper amount of oil.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable and check the oil pressure. Check for any oil leaks.
for the 3.3 you can rebuild, 3.0 - replace.

How do you check transmission fluid


Make sure the engine has been at operating tempurature for at least 5 minutes. Open the hood and locate the TRANSMISSION dipstick, this one is different from the ENGINE OIL dipstick. It is usually bigger and located closer to the firewall in the engine compartment, if you have any doubts about finding it, look in your owners manual, it should tell you where it is. When you pull the correct dipstick you can tell becuase the fluid is RED and not BLACK or BROWN like engine oil. The car should be on a level surface and the engine should be idling in PARK to check the fluid correctly. Pull the dipstick, wipe it with a clean cloth and then re-insert it and pull it out again. There should be clear markings on the end of the dipstick to show where the level is. Again, check in your owners manual to see where normal levels are marked. If you don't have an owners manual, just look to see if the level is at least between two marks; an uppper and a lower. If no fluid shows on the stick, you are running low on fluid and could damage the transmission, have it filled immediately.

The safest way to be sure you don't overfill the motor with engine oil is: after draining the oil pan and installing the drain plug, put the new filter on and add three quarts of approved oil to the engine. pull the dipstick and wipe it clean, re-insert and check the accurate oil level. there should be oil either at the very bottom of the dipstick or between two holes or on what looks like a hashmark. if the oil is at the bottom of the dipstick, add one more quart, then start the engine. let it run for about 30 seconds then shut if off. check the dipstick just like before. The oil level should be right at the top oil level mark on the dipstick. It's ok if it is a little low but NOT OK to be above the line or mark.

OIL LEVEL CHECK Every time you stop for fuel, check the engine oil as follows:
  1. Park the vehicle on level ground.
  2. When checking the oil level it is best for the engine to be at operating temperature, although checking the oil immediately after a stopping will lead to a false reading. Wait a few minutes after turning off the engine to allow the oil to drain back into the crankcase.
  3. Open the hood and inspect the level of the engine oil tank. The fluid level on the tank should read between FULL or F and LOW or L.
  4. If the level is below the LOW or L line, remove the cap and add enough engine oil to reach the FULL or F line. Fig. 1: Fill the engine oil tank located under the hood first 90911p07.jpg
  5. Install the oil cap and hand tighten.
  6. After filling the oil tank, remove the engine access hole cover on the drivers side.   7. Remove the engine oil dipstick and wipe it clean.
  8. Reinsert the dipstick, push it in as far as it will go, the pull it out and look at the level on the end.

Change transmision oil


You don't say if it's auto or stick shift. So-

Auto. Start the engine until warm. Drive vehicle onto ramps, SECURE IT! front up, turn engine off. With engine warm, at the back of the gearbox is a drain plug (we'll deal with that first) Remove the plug and drain all oil out of the gearbox. On the bottom of an auto box there is a plate, if it is easily accessable remove the plate, taking care not to split the seal, Wipe off as much of the reidue as possible, then using a releasing oil, somthing like WD40, spray the inside of the plate and it disolves the final bit of gunk. Replace the plate, the plug, Wipe some clean oil on ALL surfaces that are touching, seals etc, and tighten. Under the hood is a dipstick, by the bulkhead, for the gearbox. Remove the dipstick, and with a funnel through the dipstick pipe, top up the gearbox with the CORRECT OIL until it touches the bottom of the stick, Start the engine and slowly, let the car run off the ramps. With the engine running, wait until up to temp, check your level again, it will have dropped, don't panic, then top up the same way until the oil is between the two marks on the dipstick.

NOW

Stick shift. the same as above up until I mention the plate. There isn't one! Remove all the oil, refit the plug. On the top of the gearbox, just off centre, is the re-fil nut. With the car on the ramp, refill with oil. The oil should have come with a flexi tube on top of the bottle, if not, use a funnel on a tube that fits into the nut hole on top of the gearbox, making sure you can access it though the engine bay to fill. Get someone to lie under the car so they can see when the oil comes out of the fill hole, that means it's full. Refit the filler plug, and reverse off ramps. There is no dipstick to check on a stick shift, you don't need it.

It sounds like a long job, but it'll take an hour tops!
