SOURCE: Where do I add the power steering fluid on a 1984

The power steering pump on this vehicle is usually low and on the driver's side, front of the engine. The filler cap is on top of the unit.

SOURCE: Need to see picture of

First you need to find the power steering pump once you find the pump you need to remove the cap. Picture below.

Here is how to read the dipstick on the cap.
The fluid level can be checked with the fluid either hot or cold. Fluid level should be at the correct point (FULL HOT or FULL COLD) on the dipstick

If necessary, add the proper amount of power steering fluid and replace the dipstick

Power steering fluid where is it located, to put fluid in?

You probably have a V-8 engine, which on most GM products means that, as you're looking at the engine from the front of the vehicle, the power steering pump/reservoir would be to your right. It should have a cap that looks something like this:4010-07017180-1061739.jpg

If the dipstick (which is part of the cap) reads low, add power steering slowly until the level is correct. Then start the engine ad check the level again.

Replaced power steering pump on 01 suburban.. drove about 10 miles steering became difficult [same as before replacement] for short distancethen reverted on and off again. could new pump be bad? fluid...

If your Suburban has "hydroboost" brakes then the problem might be in that unit. Look on the firewall where you would add brake fluid. If there is a large round disk with a vacum hose attached to it then you DON'T have hydroboost. If it has two lines that come and go from the Power steering pump, then you do. You might just need to bleed the air out. With the engine running, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and then all the way to the left about 10 times. Then look at the resevoir on the pump.
