Question about 1998 Ford Mustang

My 98 mustang wants to start hard

My 1998 Ford Mustang with a 3.8 v6 wants to start very hard when the engine is either hot or cold but mostly when its cold. I've replaced the fuel pressure regulator thinking it had something to do with it but it still starts hard. The fuel pump, injectors, and filter are all good but i just don't know what it could be.

What do you mean start hard?
you mean slow cranking or long cranking before start?

it's your upper intake manifold gasket. it has a crack in it and needs to be replaced. your getting to much air and not enough gas. mine did the same thing.

Make sure the radiator pressure cap is the correct one and that the hose is not soft--check the lower hose and heater hoses for softness as well. They should be firm, but not hard or cracking. The temperature sensor is reporting normal operating temperature, so it and the thermostat are working correctly (hot water would blow out of the radiator if it were stuck). Check the cooling fan for free turning and no noise. Check it's grounding connection. Check the fuse box for blown fuses to the fan and to the A/C compressor. Make sure all the relays and fuses are firmly pressed into their sockets. Check the A/C compressor clutch winding for resistance--should not read infinity. Does the blower motor for the heater/A/C run when either is turned on? The A/C switch on the dash may be defective.

If you are talking about the axle hub nuts, then you may have to use an air impact socket driver and impact sockets. These nuts can be torqued to over 140 FT LBS. Let me know if you need more help.MOE

check fuses for brake shift solenoid. the brake pedal position switch is a fuse under the hood. inside the passenger compartment, check every fuse. that's a start for not having more information.

this is most likely a fuel vapor issue.

fuel boils in the fuel rail causing a hard start after a 'hot soak'.

the fix is to replace the fuel pressure regulator and the pcm. good- day !!

Does this car still have the catylatic converter on it?If so that could most likely be the problem.Depends on what state you are in for the emissions codes, but you can cut it out and just add a piece of pipe from your local parts store and add a collector to it.Its not that hard.

So what you saying is it's hard to start cold right? Something in computer system not allowing excess fuel to injectors when cold. Probably sensor Get auto electrician to sort it out otherwise you end up replacing things that there is nothing wrong with They got the right gear
