Check for vacuum leaks. Bad o2 sensor or mass air flow sensor could be a possible cause. But its most likely something in the air intake system based off the info provided.

I got a 2000 ford focus that cranks but don't starts, fuel pressure is good, good spark but spark plugs are pretty worn out can that cause it to do that?

You only need three things to start an engine.
1) Clean Fuel / Air
2) Compression
3) Spark

One of these is not working correctly. The fuel pressure is good, but the fuel line, fuel filter, injectors, or carb may be dirty or clogged. If the gas has been sitting for a long time, or could have water in it, there is potential for the gas to be gummed up, and it wont ignite. Start with clean, new gas, line, filter, and if it still wont start, move on to the #2, #3 items from the list above.
Move through the troubleshooting systematically.
Remember, you only need 3 things to get it to run!

Good luck

99 taurus sat for 2 mounths has gas wont start

Has gas where--- in the fuel tank?

Put a fuel pressure gauge on the
fuel rail & see if you have a working
fuel pump,system & pressure,somewhere
around 40# with key on/eng off

I assume the engine turns with the starter

Is the battery any good, start there, can read 12.5 volts
& still be bad

Will it try & start if you spray the throttle body with starting
fluid or carb cleaner

If you have spark plug wires, put an old plug into one wire
& ground it on motor to check for spark

You can have spark but too weak to run motor

Make sure all fuses are in place & good

When i try to start my 99 vw passat gls v6 it will barely start and stay started for possibly 5 sec with no presure on gas pedal if i keep my foot on the gas it will stay running but the rpms wont rise...

it hard to say there few things that could cause this but sounds like it a Fuel issue
Possible bad fuel pump totallly clogged fuel filter bad injectors Out of gas etc.
first thing you need to do is check your fuel pressure ( I bet it be low ) if it low check fuel filter if fuel filter good replace fuel pump
If Fuel pressure is within Specs then test the injectors
if Fuel pressure is ok and injectors test out ok then check ignition system (spark plugs, coils, module etc)

I have a 99 zr2 has good fuel pressure and has good spark but will not start just turns over

does it pop or make any sound at all your timing could be off and if the fuel pump isn't pushing out at least 55 psi the injectors wont open

99 Tahoe engine cranks, wont start

You need 3 things.
Compression
Good hot blue spark to all plugs.
Good gasoline and proper fuel pressure. 63-64 lbs.
If you have all 3 then move on to injector pulse to all injectors.
I think each injector is on a separate driver on that one.
Check for pulse to all of them.

You may be weak on fuel pressure . even a couple of lbs low on a cold start will cause a no start.
Double check cold start cranking fuel pressure. If under 63-62 lbs you have problems.
one test is to give it a squirt of carb cleaner not starting fluid. If it starts then you have a fuel pressure problem.
Run the full fuel pressure test and post back pressures.
Here is the guide lines on testing.
Hard to start cold.
Check cold start fuel pressure.
Check engine running fuel pressure.
Check engine running on the road fuel pressure.
Then shut it off and watch for fast leak down.
Pinch off at rubber part or block off return line and check full pressure.
Later V6 and V8 gm engines should have 60-66 fuel pressure.
Cold start should be 64-65 lbs of pressure.
If you do not have full fuel pressure on a cold start the injectors will not squirt fuel.
Do not leave home without it.
Engine running should be 60-66 lbs pressure depending on engine load.
Full pressure with return pinched off should be 75-85 or more.
And if it has a fast leak down after shut off you have a leak.

The 75-85 is only a check on the capable full pressure of fuel pump.
If you can not find the rubber return line check full pressure by plugging return line or just or the true full pressure can be taken direct at the end fuel filter.
What are the pressure readings that you have done.
What are your cold start pressure readings?
Post back what you have.

The other thing to that is common is the (ICM) under the distributor cap. There is a breather screen on the bottom of the distributor that get's clogged with dirt causing condensation promoting corrosion, this was gm TSB for replacing the cap and rotor to make sure it's clean.

Good luck and hope this helps. Merry Xmas.

Need help with my 99 gmc yukon! replaced map sensor, and idle air control module. getting gas to shaffer valve, getting spark to the spark plugs. yellow fire.

Im guessing the vehicle wont start? If so you shouldnt rule out fuel just because your getting fuel to the shrader valve, these vehicle require a certain amount of fuel pressure to run, im guessing around 60psi, so i would check fuel pressure, if ok keep in mind that these vehicles also had a problem with early failure on the fuel injectors, GM sells a new design injector set up for them.
