Question about 1985 Ford F 250

1 Answer

My 1985 F250 diesal - 6.9 will not start. When I put the key into the starter nothing happens - no glue light - no buzzing - no clicks and no sound. The batterys are good. They need charging now. There is sufficient fuel in the tanks and the fuel lines are clear. Is my problem the starter?

hi...

in these model years it is very common for a water leak to develop at the left front a pillar...that the left side of windshield...once the leak develops it runs down the inside of trim, behind dash and hits the fuse box and gem module with water, shorting it out...you can check for this with a hose, or try to push out on edges of windshield using your thumb and when windshield is loose, you can actually see it puch away from body..or just use a hose and a flashlight..this is your most likely solution....good luck!

Need image of a 2001 f250 fuse box diagram

Which fuse box? there are three: The Battery Junction Block (BJB), the Central Junction Block (CJB) and the Bi-Fuel Relay Module.

Please review this article: Where's The Fuse?

Also, the information that you are probably trying to find is covered in the Owner's Manual for your vehicle. (Look under the heading of "Roadside Emergencies")
If you don't have an owner"s manual, you can download a FREE .pdf version at the Ford web site. I have provided a direct link below. You can save this file to your computer for future reference.

The way to approach this sreies of issues is to first remove the remote start/alarm from the equation and restore the vans electrical system back to original. From there, if it persists, we can do more trouble shooting. Let me know and I can walk you through the process. This is definately a problem that does require a diagnostician. Thank you for the level of detail you provided!

Got new batterys in it and new sylenoid but still just a dead sound when turn keys on in the 1991 ford f250 diesal what could be wrong with it

It sounds like you need a new starter motor. Really, you should do a starter draw test, but you need an automotive current tester and I'm assuming that would mean towing it to a shop. Probably a good bet and cheaper to just put a starter in it if you don't have a record of it being done for quite awhile.
