You shouldnt have caused any engine damage. The engines computer will protect engine and not alow it to over rev.

Thanks. I was not able to get the car down an unplowed street on Monday and I keep racing the engine to go a few feet at a time.

Drove into snow. Stuck, rocked, got out shoveled got in and wouldn't start. elect is good. Could snow have damaged wires or starter? I was fine. Til I turned key off in 4wheel. Help.

Yes, Ed, the snow ( or water ) could have done some damage.
The water could have damaged the starter, or the starter solenoid, however, that would really be unusual because they are made pretty waterproof, since they sit near or on the bottom of the engine where there is often a lot of water.
I would suspect the wire from the ignition switch to the starter or the solenoid ( which is a small wire) may have gotten broken or knocked off, or perhaps if there might be a solenoid to the 4 wheel drive might have gotten soaked.
God bless your efforts.

Traction antibrak

there is a code set in the ABS computer that will have to be checked out and the same with the check engine light but the code will be in the PCM for that. it could be a damaged sensor/wires at the sensors or if you driving in deep snow it could be causing a false code and there is nothing wrong.

Engine racing/roaring

you will need to do a compression test on the pistons. it could be the stem seals have failed on the valve stems. (this is for hills) racing /roaring, racing could be a weak clutch if manual/ auto can be incorrect settings been put on gear box. roaring can be a leaking manifold or leaking exhaust before or after first box or cat leaking.

I have a recently purchased Dodge Dakota 2005. It's in mint condition...but I bought it and put maybe 300 miles on it since I bought it and now when I start it the engine light is on and it sounds like...

I would get the computer checked for codes as soon as possible.
It could be a vac leak or something else. Extra air entering the intake will make the engine idle fast.

Sounds like you have problems with the turbo as thee is a bearing there and you said it starts rattling once the turbo kicks in. There is one other thing, you may have internal engine damage as like you said, only 500 miles and some of that was racing. May not have been broken in properly. I know I was told you need to break an engine in for 500 - 1000 miles then change the oil. I hope this is not the case for you though.

Transmission has code p1270 ford 2000 expendition

Continuous Memory Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P1270 has a generic description of "Excessive Engine RPM/Vehicle Speed".
This DTC indicates that the vehicle was operated in a manner which caused engine or vehicle speed to exceed a calibrated limit. Possible causes for this DTC are:
> Wheel slippage caused by mud, snow, water, ice. etc.
> Excessive engine RPM in Park or Neutral
> Vehicle driven at an excessive rate of speed

If you are aware that one of the possible causes above occured, then there is no problem.
If there are no other drivability symptoms or fault codes, simply clear the code and move on.

the engine fail safe [limp mode] engages for or when the engine/trans senses damage or something that can cause extreme damage[ no oil pressure] the limp mode is so u can safely get off road or to a service location

Was out it some deep snow with my 99 ford f-250 and truck lost power and now is spuddering?

Check your air intake it could be clogged up. Or the intake is loose if it is make every connection tight. This problem will cause the engine to hesitate. And never get water in the exhaust pipe this will damage the engine.
