Question about 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

I have a 2006 vw jetta and for the past month i have had a problem with it starting. AAA said i had a bad battery cell and they replaced the battery. a week later the car would not start after sitting for two days. I had the alternator & starter checked out and they are both good. It seems like the car will not start or make an attempt to start after it sits for a couple of days. can someone please help me with this problem

Check your amp draw on the battery with the key out... You may have something pulling the battery down.

Replace battery and alternator 2x in 6 months

Get a cheap multimeter and test for drain, sometimes it is the starter, check the battery at all off, and running, your parts I hope are warrantied have them both tested and checked, The starter and or coil can cause weird electrical issues and a bad ground could be causing everything to work harder. You need an honest mechanic who cares about solving the problems.

I have a 2006 VW TDI Jetta. The alarm randomly goes off. I took it to the local dealership and the hooked it up and said that the two rear door sensors had gone bad and needed to be replaced. They said...

Did you have an accident with this vehicle shortly before this happened ?
I have had this problem after my car was repaired by a body shop. One door latch was replaced by the VW dealer which solved the alarm problem but the battery still drained. Now they are saying it is the comfort control module.

Is there a plug in for a diesel jetta

I don't believe any VW sent to the US in the past 15+ years has come with a plug-in heater. The only exception is if the car was from Canada, or if one was installed afterwards.

If the engine turns too slowly to start, try cleaning the terminals of the battery, if still nothing- replace the battery.

If the engine turns over but just won't fire up cycle the glow plugs a few times before trying to start. Turn the key to on, wait for the glow plug light to go out after a few seconds then turn the key off. Repeat 2 or 3 times before you try to start.

Also make sure you use a fuel additive for the cold months. Look for something with anti-gel on the label.

2006 vw jettA 2.5....trouble starting

I had to take my car back to the dealership twice. First, they replaced the ignition switch. 3 days later, my car wouldn't start again. So I took it back and they called VW - VW said to replace the steering column module. I asked my dealer why they didn't replace the steering colum module first - they said that even if they had replaced that first, the old ignition switch would have shorted out the steering column module. Whatever.
$600 later my car has been fine for about 3 weeks now. If it happens again I will keep you posted.
Good luck!
