Question about 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

Two separate times my 1998 chevy cavalier's oil light was going on and off while in motion. I turned off the car and when I restarted, the oil light stayed off. The oil is changed every 3 months and there is plenty in there now. It's been fine for over a week now. What's wrong?

Did you check your turn signal relay in your fuse box? It should be separate from the flasher relay.

Low beams not working

The daytime running lights work off a separate module. You do need a new headlight dimmer switch located inside the car at the lower part of the steering column. It has a rod going into it with a few wires running to it. You will need to adjust it upon installing so mank the location of the old one with white tape or paint for an easier installation

My Daughter's 1998 Chevy Cavalier had an indicator light come on. She thinks it's an Oil Light. (Has an Arrow Pointing Down?)

It's the Coolant. I have the same car, same year and had the same indicator light come on - it was my Coolant.

2002 chevy cavalier turns off while driving

I fix my own 1998 cavalier. before I had the same problem. mechanics made me changed catalyte converter, combustion gaskets, EGR, fuel injectors with a tune up on spark plugs and boots... BUT the problem was still there. they all gave up and told me to trash the dang thing but I kept it. did research and studies, lots. finally found out the car was design without a regular pcv valve. **There is a thing called an air/oil separator on it. Its mounted on the block of the engine just right above of the oil filter. You must clean out the tubes. The one that usually gets clogged by oil slug would be the one connected to the oil. runs smooth like a baby after you get that clean. hope this helps.

1998 Chevy Cavalier 2.2L: Car hesitates at idle and low speeds.

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with one of the components or sensors it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you need to diagnosed and repaired it. First step is to find out what the codes are that turned on the light. I would guess it is going to be a misfire code. And the head gasket leak, in the corner of the head on the side near the transmission? Common problem with the 2.2L and could be related to the poor idle. I would have the head gasket leak repair very soon before it creates more problems. Let me know if you need any other help.
