1993 dodge colt, jerking while driving

My problem is, when I take my colt out for more than a couple of miles it jerks really bad, and after a couple of jerks I will lose all acceleration, I press the gas peddle and nothing happens no noise or anything, the car doesn't shut off, but will not go foward, sometimes it will **** again and i'll get acceleration back other times it will not, once I apply the breaks after I lose acceleration my car will stall, and it will sometimes start right back up and other times it will not......... I also have a problem starting it sometimes, it turns over but I might have to turn it over for 10 to 15 min before it actaully starts, then it usually stays on and will run but sometimes it only stays started for 30 or so sec then dies, any advice of what to check would be helpful, I've already changed the distributor cap,

I have a 98 corolla that is starting to **** at at acceleration

ever do the 60k mile service interval tune up? ??? ever or this decade?

bingo.

if this is engine jerk and not tranny./clutch jerk, only a mech can know.

then that is calleed MISFIRE>

there are 50 causes of misfire.

but here are the macro reasons.\' (no tuneup is 1st)

1: bad compression in 1 or more cyl.

2: bad spark (tune up fixes that)

3: bad fueling.

4: 47 more.

there is a simple test for each after the tune up dont fix it.

check the spark plugs and leads you may find that water has got in there or worst case oil. also check the leads/dispack for any damage or cracks/splits.

1998 toyota camry started jerking a bit and now

If your losing compression then I suggest doing a compression test and then following it up with a wet compression test to determine whether the problem is in the valves or pistons.
Wow one tune up in 122k miles jerking not really an ignition thing more like a fuel thing. If Compression test results are good then do a full tune up even replace coil packs or distributor ( which ever is applicable) and replace fuel filter.
These vehicles are not known for major engine problems (blown engines bad valves etc).
Big with transmission problems if its a 6 cylinder not the 4 cylinders.

Sudden release of power while driving at 65 miles

at that high a mileage it could be very likely the trans is starting to fail, have the computer tested for transmission trouble code's (trans is fully electronically shifted and controlled), also it is very unlikely the alignment check is related.
