Hi yea the vehicle has bad head gasket, thanks for ur time!

Remove the head and faulty gasket . For a good job have the head skimmed to make sure that it is not warped and fit a genuine head gasket as after market gasket do not always have all the necessary holes . RE tension the head studs in the correct order and to the correct tension and the job will be a good one.

How do I remove the cylinder head on a 2.2 engine?

You take the bolts out of it but then you have to put it back together and you will needs new head bolts, a torque wrench, the torque specs, new head gasket.......It's a big job if you know nothing about working on a car engine. Actually replacinbg the head gasket is the easiest part of the job. getting to the head and getting everything disconnected and MARKED is what takes the time.

I have a 2004 Dodge NEON with an interference engine that the timing belt broke on. What are the chances of valve damage and about how much does that cost to fix?

The valves will be bent and you will need a head job done. The time to do the job outside head reconditioning would be around 4 hours labour and the parts will include valves, head gasket kit, timing belt, adjuster pulley, and if the job is done properly crankshaft and cam shaft seals as oil is the main cause of belt failure.

Replace piston rings on beetle

THis job requires a lot of ability and is not a job for beginners. It involves engine out, head off. removal of wear lip at top of cylinders. big ends off , pistons out. Checking ring gap of new rings, checking pistons, assembling rings without breaking them, REplacing pistons, big ends head and gasket. checking cam timing etc. As I said it is not a job for beginners and you will need a lot of expert guidance for the job

Having problem replacing intake manifold in 1997 lincoln towncar limo alternator in the way

If first time at this? Enlist expierienced help cause this is A big job. Big jobs pay good or cause big headaches. 4 eyes and 2 heads will complete job properly, rather than 1 frustrated head and 2 tired eyes that just dropped a nut down #2 intake port on head and didn't realize it. Ka-boom goes piston and watever else it destroys while your still cranking on key. First post said it all. Excellent advice, but remember is your pride worth a 3000$ engine repair bill?

Does bad timing cause head gasket to fail

It is possible that bad engine timing could cause overheating, enough to cause a head gasket failure, but you would notice that happening.

It is also possible that backfiring and engine pinging (which are symptoms of engine timing being out) could contribute to head gasket failure, but again you would notice.

If you have not been aware of these symptoms, or hard starting (the most common sign of engine timing being out) then I think there is no relationship in your car.

In any case if the head gasket needs replacing, part of that job is reassembly and resetting of the engine timing. Ask the mechanic what tests were done to decide the head gasket has failed. These are a compression test, a leak-down test, and looking for water in the engine oil.

If the mechanic has said the head gasket "is failing" I would ask how he knows, because they don't do that imperceptibly, they are either OK, or they leak.

What is the correct timing chain setting for a lexus lx450? I just had my head reworked and my mechanic (brother) is having problems resetting the timing chain.

Wouldn't anyone about to work on a timing belt or chain,
obtain a diagram before they started?

There is no way to do that job without it

Try a local repair shop that has Alldata ,they may print
what he needs

1995 Plymouth Acclaim Cylinder Head Removal

Honestly... If you are really not that good at mechanical issues you probably should take it in... Not to be mean but the head needs to come off in a bolt sequence and reinstalled in a bolt sequence with the correct torque... The passenger motor mount, exaust, wire harness, valve cover, head boltscoolant hoses, throttle cable and many more items need to be removed......Also NOTE:... slip and tuck head gasket jobs are NOT advisable and ussually result in doing the job twice over..... The heads have a tendency to warp and also crush in the gaskets over time....The head should be checked for warpage. Also a good time to do the valves and replace seals.......in the end if you are not experienced and do not have someone around that knows aboput the job at hand you may want to have the job done by a tech... For fun grab yourself a Chiltons manual and read through........

Good luck
