How do I replace the heater motor and fan on a 1996 olds 88

Heater fan motor is located in firewall under the hood it has 1 wire clip and 6 screws but you have to move bracket that hold plug wires its in the way. not a hard job i did mine in about a half hour....

SOURCE: where is the heater fan located in a 1996

under hood connected to firewall on passenger side. It is attached with 4 or 5 small bolts that you can remove. It will have squirel cage attached when you pull out. Make sure you disconnect the wire harness before removing.

Check all your fuses.( you probably did, but do it again, one at a time) it seems like your control pannel is not getting power. See what wire is the power for the control pannel and bypass it with a jumper wire, giving it power and see if the blower works. Be careful though, make sure you find the correct wire that powers the control, or else you'll burn the control.

check the heater inside under the dash and make sure the actuator motor is opening and closing the doors fully on the heater to direct the heat and ac.

On my 1998 olds 88 I don't seem to have a good volume of air coming from the vents. The fans blow the a/c is cold but just not good air flow. How can increase the air flow?

You may want to check on the vents for it can be closed half way. If the vents are good then the problem will surely be on the blower itself. It can be worn out that's why the blower motor blows weak. Once replaced I believe you'll be good.

On a 96 model,the heater fan motor comes out through the engine bay.Take off the batt. leads.Undo the bolts and then remove the fan power lead.The fan has 3 bolts.It then comes out.Hope this helps
