Question about 2008 Pontiac G6 Sedan

1 Answer

When I turn on the rear defrost the light comes on but the window does not defrost. I had the rear windshield replaced at 26000 miles because when I would turn on the rear defrost my radio stations would be all static. I now have 48000 miles on it, does anyone have any suggestions?

Check the connections going in to the window leads and also with a test light ,check if their is power at the terminals that plug into the window leads. does your car still have factory warranty that the dealer can look into this.

Factory warrantee expired at 36000. I have one other question. My antifreeze runs out of the
overflow ,but there are no leaks on the ground, I have to top it off every other week to have heat. Have you heard of this problem?

I have a 2007 dodge magnum with limo tint windows! My side windows don't defrost however the windshield and rear window defrost just fine and my heater works great!

Your windshield and rear window has defrost outlets that exhaust right onto your front and rear window glass. Your side glass probably doesn't enjoy this luxury.

Windshield wipers stop working when the defroster is on

The only thing they have in common is the ignition switch.

My 2007 chevy impala back windshield wont defrost at all...the front windshield defroster works perfectly..please help.

There is a female-male connector that connects the wire harness from engine to the cab located in passenger side kick panel. Find it and disconnect them. Look at each side to see if the connector is burnt. If it is it will need to be replaced or you can cut the rear defrost wire away from the connector and connect them direct. To much amperage causes these to burn out. If joining them direct do it cleanly and at your own risk. You can check the current at the rear defrost to see if this is the issue. front defrost is supplied by heated air. Rear is an electric coil on the window.

I have a 2003 dodge neon..and the rear defroster doesn't has a button for it..and it just shuts off and back windshield doesn't clear at all...even if I keep turning it back on it...

Yeah, I'd think it would have lines, too, unless some new way of doing it that I'm not aware of. Maybe the rear window was replaced with a window without the defrost option. There should be a small two wire connector coming out of the back shelf near lower driver's side of rear window. That would be the defrost connector to the window lines (that aren't there, lol).
Well, good luck with that! I think there are aftermarket kits for rear window defrost, though.

No power to rear defrost, but the windshield defrost works.

I recommend you go to an auto parts store and tell them that the fuse for the rear window defroster has blown and they will find the fuse and replace it for you.

Rear defrost won't turn off.

Disconnect the cable that goes to the defroster at the rear windshield, this will allow you to put the fuse back for now. Check or replace the rear defroster switch. If its not the switch you have a short-circuit. You can try replacing the wires from the switch to the back windshield, you can use the same switch or an after market one will do.

If you have a 12 volt test lamp, try this: Turn on the rear defroster. Attach the clamp to a good ground point; the door latch hoop is good)...Now, touch the test lamp to the extreme left and extreme right sides of the grids, on the inside of the glass. If the light does not light in either place, you probably either have a bad defroster relay, or the wires coming to the rear grids is off. Please feel free to get back to me with the results of your test.
