Question about 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Truck
When I accelerate from a stop the transmission will not shift down unless I feather the throttle. I have change the oil and filter. I also have changed out the governor pressure solenoid valve and the transducer. the oil was not dirty except for normal wear. could I have a speed sensor out and if so where is it located ? Thank you
I have a 2002 Dodge Ram that doesn't like to shift into 2nd when flooring it from a Stop. Imagine if you were to floor the gas in neutral, the engine REDLINEs and the engine governor kicks in to keep the RPM from blowing the engine......while stuck in first Gear. If i let off the gas, it goes into 2nd fine. I have replaced the Speed Sensor on the transmission ($18) and it seemed to fix it for one day. After 200 miles, its doing it again. ANybody have legitimate answers in here? Its only got 60K miles..wtf?

Have any of you guys ever had a problem with your 2002 Dodge 2500 diesel truck while driving in overdrive around 40-50 mph when the torque coverter locks in it wants to kick in and out of lock up. It has to be a electrical ground or something, I put a lockup switch in so I can lock it manually to get it to quit. Any fix for this? Tranny was just o/h but it did this before I o/h it.

Had the same problem with mine while it was still under warranty. Dealer re[laced engine controller, still same thing. Replaced solenoid in trans., same thing. Took transmission apart, no problem found. I replaced the boost sensor myself. Problem sensor, been fine since

I have a 2001 dodge 3500. I had the same problems shifting as most of your posts indicate. My problem and solution was my trans solenoid. Havent had a problem since. If I remember right it was around $ 400.00 to have it replaced at my local dealership. Good luck

I had the same problem, about 6 months ago. My problem was that the Output speed sensor went bad, you might want to replace this.
