Question about 1998 Ford Escort
If you are only removing the timing belt cover 1st remove the negative battery cable from the battery, next remove the drive belt (alternator belt) and belt tensioner next remove the three nuts and three bolts from the timing belt cover then remove the cover, you mite have to finesse the cover a little to get it off from behind the crank pulley but it will come out .
