Trunk will not open with or without key

I bought a used volvo s40 2004, I cannot gain access to the trunk, the batteries were changed in remote.

    My chrysler lebaron 95, Convertible trunk will not open with new key or old....the lock may be jammed due to the salt in cylinder..ANY solutions how to get open?

    Can't get into my 1999 volvo with key. Is it possible to go through trunk and let seats down to enter?

Hello theres really not many choices if you have a trunk key it should work if not and the inside trunk release isnt working either you could try to get at the lock setup from the back seat take your lower seat out remove the lower holding bolts slide up off the top lock setup see if theres enough room to work from there to pop the trunk open with a flash light and a screwdriver if not your going to have to pop the lock cylinder at your trunk once its out you can get a aftermarket replacement under $ 20 goodluck please rate

the battery is in the boot/trunk on the rh side under boot trim,,if you cant open trunk with the button or remote use the key in the slot in the boot finisher. that is more than likely siezed cos nobody ever uses it, try a lube spray in the key slot if you cant gain access. if you need to jump start and can not get in the trunk i think the main battery terminal comes to the rh front under bonnet on rh drive cars near brake servo/ master cylinder, you can power it up from jump battery from that point,

If it has the electric trunk release, the button could be in the glove box.
Otherwise you may have to remove the back seat to gain entry to the trunk.

Can't unlock trunk
spray a little wd40 into the lock cylinder and insert the key and jiggle it until it works. this often happens if the lock cylinder gets little use, which is the case with remote activated locks. you will have to gain access to the mechanism if you want to see why it's not working with the remote.

connect jump leads to starter motor large terminal and engine earth then the button should open the boot .

if you look at the key there is a ridge running down the centre, the length of the key .it is this which stop you using it to open the trunk.ask a keysmith to grind it off......or buy a new key without the ridge.then turn key to the left or right to set lock to open with remote....
