Question about 2004 Lincoln Navigator

Dealer wants $250 to install 2 tire sensors. I said no and can't turn off the tire sensor message on the dash.

2010 Chevrolet Camaro... My TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor) light came on blinking and car is telling me to have it serviced. only 3 of my 4 tires are registering on the system. Is there anyway to...


There is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for your vehicle stating that if the light is blinking and if there are dashes (- -) on only one or two tire pressure readings, then the tire presure monitoring system should be put through a "Relearn" or "matching" process. Then if any of the tire pressure sensors do not respond while relearning, the sensor in that tire should be replaced.

The TPMS matching process is outlined below:

1. Set the parking brake.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON/RUN with the engine off.
3. Go to the TPM vehicle information screen on the DIC. Press set to relearn the sensors. The horn sounds twice to signal the receiver is in relearn mode and Tire Learning Active message displays on the Driver Information Center screen.
4. Start with the driver side front tire.
5. Remove the valve cap from the valve stem. Activate the TPMS sensor by increasing or decreasing the tire's air pressure for 10 seconds, or until a horn chirp sounds. The horn chirp, which can take up to 30 seconds to sound, confirms that the TPMS sensor identification code has been matched to this tire position.
6. Proceed to the passenger side front tire, and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
7. Proceed to the passenger side rear tire, and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
8. Proceed to the driver side rear tire, and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
9. After hearing the confirming horn chirp, for the driver side rear tire, the horn sounds two more times to signal the tire learning mode is no longer active. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF.
10. Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure level as indicated on the tire and loading information label.
11. Put the valve caps back on the valve stems.
The tires air pressure will not appear on the screen until you start driving the vehicle.

I just installed a set of new wheels on a 2008 chevy cobalt an now im gettting a message on the dash about a tire monitor what can i do to fix this


your original wheels have tire pressure sensors in them.so to get the light off you need to get the sensors installed in the new wheels.

How do you clear "check


1. inflate your tires to the correct pressure (not just visually, but use a gauge)
2. your wheels have TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) sensor attached to the rim on the filler stem, inside the tire. if that sensor has gone bad, your dash will register as having low tire pressure. replace that TPMS (little black box in the wheel. you have to remove the tire to get to it). If you have aftermarket wheels, you need to transfer the TPMS sensor from the stock wheel to the new wheel.

NOTE: The tire pressure sensor training prcedure must be done in an area without radio frequency (RF) noise. RF noise is generated by electrical motor and appliance operation, cell phones, and remote transmitters.

1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position
2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position three times, ending in the RUN position. Do not wait more than two minutes between each key cycle.
3. Press and release the brake pedal
4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

Sequence:
1- Left Front Tire
2- Right Front Tire
3- Right Rear Tire
4- Left Rear Tire


5. Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position three times, ending in the RUN position. Do not wait for more than two minutes between each key cycle.
6. The horn will sound once and the TPMS indicator will flash if train mode has been entered successfully. If equipped, the message center displays "TRAIN LEFT FRONT TIRE." Place the magnet on the valve stem of the LF tire pressure sensor. The horn will sound briefly to indicate that the tire pressure sensor has been recognized by the TPMS module.
7.Within two minutes after the horn sounds, place the magnet on the valve stem of the RF tire pressure sensor. NOTE: If the TPMS module does not recognize any one of the four tire pressure sensors during the tire training procedure, the horn will sound twice and the message center (if equipped) will display "TIRE TRAINING MODE INCOMPLETE." If this occurs, the entire procedure must be repeated from Step 1.
8. Repeat Step 7 for the RR and LR tires. When the tire training procedure is complete, the horn will sound once and the message center (if equipped) will display TIRE TRAINING MODE COMPLETE.

This should help. For now, probably all Fords are like this. And I do not believe that Ford puts sensors in their spares (some GMs do).

You can see if the dealer can turn the tire monitor system off, but that would be your only hope, or ignore it like everyone else does.

Check air pressure in all tires sometimes 2 pounds of pressure difference will set it off and sometimes it takes 8 pounds. If a sensor goes out and you know which one it is pick up a new sensor at Advanced auto for 42 dollars and put it together with the one screw and go to Walmart and they will install it for 10 dollars.The sensors have batteries in them and they only last so long if it has been over five years and one goes out replace them all. The car will learn the new sensors in a few miles so just drive until the light goes out12_2_2011_4_02_28_pm.gif

When you replace a tire on a vehicle equiped with a tire pressure sensor system, there are several things you need to be aware of. Hopefully the tire company was careful when changing the tire. The valve stem sensor is about $100.00+ to replace on most vehicles equiped with them. On newer vehicles the tires are filled with nitrogen to keep corrosion down on the sensor. When a tire is replaced the sensor system has to be reset a day or two after the replacement, this allows for breaking in of the new tire. All the tires should be checked for proper manufacturer inflation before resetting the system, including the spare if there is an inflated on on the car. Then the internal computer control can be reset. The owners manual should have instructions on how to reset the sensor program, there is usually a small button under the dash that is used for the reset. Once reset, your system should work as before the flat. If it doesn't stay reset, then the tire place didn't do the installation correctly damaging the sensor or the tire is loosing pressure. Check with your car dealer to see what the tires were originally filled with so you don't mix gases when equalizing the pressure. If your owners manual does not have the reset instructions the dealer may have to set it electronically. Regards, rcampsr
