You have a wire grounding out where the splices were done. I would suggest you get some wire connectors, and fix the wires that way. This way you know there are no exposed wires.

2004 Chevy Express 1500 keeps blowing trailer light fuse

If you're only blowing the fuse while the trailer is plugged in, the problem is in the trailer/wiring. This takes into account that the truck has a factory installed 7 way receptacle. If that's not the case, the problem can be in the incorrectly wired truck and the trailer is ok.

On the truck, looking into the 7 way receptacle should be as follows.
Top left=Tail Lights
Top right=12v steady source/charge line
Left middle=Left turn/brake
Right middle=Right turn/brake
Left bottom=ground
Right bottom=brake controller output
Center=reverse lights if your trailer is equipped.

Your trailer plug should mirror this.

This is the standard.

1992 dash and tail lights not working

Im having the same problem now. Let me know if you find a solution please. By jumping the orange wire to the red, my dash and taillights came on but i tried wiring them together with a fuse connected to the new wire and crimped both ends so I didn't have to cut and splice since there's not much wire to work with.. and well the lights would come on but blow the fuse everytime I turned them off

Ok this is what it is doing i tryed to put a fuse in for the dash lights and marker lights and it keeps blowing the fuse what could be the peoblem

Do you happen to have a trailer hitch and wiring on it? If so, check trailer plug for corrosion and or damaged wiring. Also check to see if tail light bulbs are correct and seated properly. I've seen this when someone installs new bulbs either wrong bulb and or not seated properly in socket.

1986 Toyota 4x4 tail lights not working

Sounds like you got a wire shorting out most likely someware between front of truck to the rear. Only thing to do is trace the wires along the frame until you find it, and if you got a trailer plug that would be the place to start. Or any wear it looks like someone has spliced into the taillight wires.

Need wire diagram to hook up trailer lights, truck not factory equipped w/harness,

I'm assuming you're just going to splice into the tail light wiring so that's what these wire colors are:
at the tail lamp 3 way connector:
black and yellow = park lamp
dark green and brown = left turn signal
there should be another connector with violet and black wire for reverse lights.
the stop lights are turned on through the turn signal circuits.

I have a 1996 Chevy C1500 5.7L Vortec. I hooked it up to a trailer and lost dash lights, tail lights and parking lights. All other lights work. Fuses look fine. Is there a fuse separate from the lighting...

There is a n instrument panel fuse and a tail light fuse. Check both with a 12V test llight not just visually. Sound like one of the are blown, probably the brake/stop light fuse. Usually the dash will darken, when a tailight fuse blows, sort of a sneaky way of letting you know theres something wrong. Now is going to be WHY DID IT BLOW ? Hope this helps

T100 tail lights & dash light keep blowing fuses

If this vehicle has a trailer harness, that could be the problem; it could be shorted out. Additionally, if there is no trailer harness, look under the truck bed at the rear, look for a grey wiring connector that wires come out of, and run to the taillamps. I have observed corrrosion in this connector, which will result in a short circuit. You may find it necessary to cut the connector out and resplice the wires back together (eliminate the connector), if severe corrosion is indeed present.

# 1 check fuse # 17 to see if it's blowed if so check the wire next to the back bumper and see if it's have a trailer hook-up put in if so unplug the hook-up and replug in the tail lights and replace the fuse and try that
