Question about 2002 Ford Explorer
It sounds like the shifter linkage. on the transmission (tranny), your linkage connects. it may have come loose. not sure on what side of the tranny (usually on the drivers side) it sticks out land you will see a bar connected usually by a bolt or screw. check there to see if it came loose, or broke. hope this helps.
