I use a silicone spray but the best results i get are with a oil can with engine oil and put some in the runners ,the rubbers do tend to get hold and grab the glass ,WD40 is a waste of time for this ,i only use it to rub on my knees when they hurt with old age and kneeling down too much fixing cars

Hi can't open boot due to roof not working and cannot close the roof at the back catch because u need to turn Allen key bolt to lock it manually which is in the boot can u help please

Hello, One thing is, you never mentioned was when the top stopped working in the first place (i.e. did the car battery die, the nit stopped working, out of the blue, etc.. etc..).
That information could be very helpful in diagnosing the problem.

You may already know this, but someone else reading this info may not, so hopefully it's useful to someone.

The windows need to be working properly and be normalized for the top to function. If you have a specific window that is not working, fix that window first.

Do this to "normalize" the windows:
Press power window switch and roll the window up/down (depending upon where it is when you start) until the window is either completely closed/open and when it reaches the fully opened or closed position keep holding the button for an additional 2-4 seconds. Repeat procedure in both directions up/down for each window. After this point the auto up/down features should be working.

If they won't go up at all after power loss, try this:
If windows won't go up after loss of electrical power. Make certain trunk and all doors are closed. Stand outside by driver's window. Use the key remote to lock car. All windows should go up.

If this doesn't get your top to move, I would hold/press the rollbar button up for 20 to 30 seconds and then down for 20 to 30 seconds. Once the rollbar is put back down, the top should start working again.

If it still doesn't work, I would get some WD-40 or some equivalent penetrating oil and oil where the rear key goes in on the boot/trunk lid and try it again. Sometimes these get stuck and the WD-40 will get them moving again.

Hope this helps and if it doesn't please post back what happens, so I can try to help.

Thanks,
TJ

What can i do with a passenger door that wont close because window is stuck fully closed. tried to reset from drivers door etc. the other three windows working. any ideas please?

I guess you mean the window, check the fuse and look for a loose wire, probably you will have to take the door panel off to fully check it also possible the motor just burned up

VW golf sunroof will not close all the way the power is there as it will open and partially close. Cant figure out what to about getting the roof closed all the way

open fully - wipe track on both sides clean with a rag- then slowly close till you can see the little wheels- spray lightly with wd-40 and continue to close- the wheels are either dirty or dry- need to be lubed lightly on occasion or you have dirty tracks

My passenger side door will not close or stay shut i think it might be the latch any ideas??? Really not Safe but it's my only car.

try spraying w-d 40 or 556 or liquid wrench in and around the door hinge where the door closes
spray it and wait 20 or 30 min to soak in if that doesn't work than you will have to pull the
in side cover of the door to get in side you can rent the tool you going to need to pull the inside
door apart auto zone will have it and the counter person will show you how to use it

hope this helps you

Run the top so the decklid opens, and down inside the top stow area there is a ~3" square access door for manual operation of the pump. Make sure the valve is tight!

I have seen many many 2008s that were never tightened enough from the factory.

Electric window close just half way only

hello velazqj, sounds like maybe the window regulator is binding, or possibly the window motor itself. Try helping the window up by pulling up on the glass when closing and see if it closes fully. If you hear any funny grinding or crunching noises, the regulator has most likely failed. The regulator is a scissor design and the motor is directly bolted to it. I would recommend removing the door panel and having both inspected.

Your pinch protection is not correctly set. You can defeat the pinch protection by holding down the window lock button when you close the window. However, to "solve" the problem, you need to reset the pinch protection. My dealer charged me $100 to reset the pinch protection on my 2003 9-3 Arc.

REAR WINDOW LATCH WILL NOT CLOSE.

I had a similar problem on my 2001 blazer. The rear window seal joint on mine is located just above the latch, allowing some small amount of water to get into the latch and rust to develop, disabling the latch. After bringin it to the dealer twice, I ended up removing the tailgate interior panel, removing the latch, and cleaning it myself. After the good cleaning, just be sure to oil it (WD-40 or similar) regularly to avoid the issue in the future. Hope it helps!
