Bypassing ignition

You take the hot wire to the ignition switch and twist it together with the run wire out of the switch-then ignition is on, just as if the key were turned to on. Then take the start wire that goes out of the switch and touch it to the hot wire to make the starter work. Soon as engine is started, remove the start wire from hot wire and tuck it out of the way. When you want it off, untwist the hot wire and the run wire.
If you cannot hot wire it like this, check if there is a security system that has immobilized the car. I don't know if a '92 had a security system.

My 2004 Grand Am has 50K miles and runs great. I stopped at a grocery store for about 15 minutes last night and it would not start. The battery was strong. I towed it back to my house, about two blocks...

Hi Friend:

You need to Replace your Inginition Switch, and Probally your Wiring Harness in the steering Wheel colume.

Once you remove your Stering Wheel and Swith You'll Probally see a Indication that your Wiring has been getting HOT and Burning off the Plastic Wire Installation;

Check All the Wiring Under Dash and Under Hood as Well.It won't help to replace it until you get to the Core of The Problem.

Which I'm sure it will be Visable.Un-Wrap any Black Electical Tape that is on the System, It can be Hiding the Wires that have Gotten Hot.

Please let me know how i've helped you,By Voting and a Testamony would be appreciated;

92 buick lesabre, left blinker won't work unless you move it manually. bulbs and fuse are fine. hazards work.

Hi Friend:

Since you've check or Changed your Bulbs and Fuse also Check or Replace your Turn Signal Flasher,Just as a Percation i would Double Check Fuses,Bulbs and Signal flasher.

If these are All showing bad I would say your Signal Switch has Stopped Working.

To Replace the Signal Swith :

1st Disconnect your Negative Battery Cable.

Remove Steering Wheel (you'll need a Puller, the remove the Shroud around the Steering Wheel Colume.

CAUTION= If you have Air Bags be careful. But you will have to remove the Air Bag Module by removing the coil lock spring Screw.

Then remove the Retaing ring and Coil Spring it will still be attached to your wiring=Just let it Hang.

Next you'll need a Compression Lock Spring Plate Tool.

Attach it to the Center of the Steering Colume, Rotate the Nut Clockwise to Remove,After Compressed you'll see a Metal Snap ring Remove it from the Groove then remove the Tool& Plate

Now you'll need to remove the Plastic Cancel ,the ring and ALL the Bearing including the Bearing Race.

Remove the Signal Arm Lever Screw. then the Signal switch Screws. Pull the Switch out and let it Hang(Still attached to the Wiring.

Get down under then you'll have to look for the screws that hold the wiring to steering colume, Remove then.

Then remove the Retaining Rng and the Wire Plug Protector.Now you Can Pull the Signal Swith Out.

Installing New Swith Simply Reverse the Removal Directions to Install your New Switch.

Please take time to Vote on my Quality of Service and the Help i Provided And a Small Testamony would be Great.If you don't mind.

Thanks for Using FIXYA

1985 mazda glc, radio was removed at some point and left 3 wires hanging out, 2 red 1 yellow. if i attach the red to yellow the ignition buzzer and such will sound, car will start and run for about 7...

I believe the red are switched ignition wires and the yellow is a constant hot wire. Cap and tape them separate from each other and you shouldn't have a problem.
