Question about 2006 Pontiac G6

1 Answer

I am trying to replace a turn signal light. Removing the rear tail lamp assembly is giving me troubles. I removed the nuts from the 2 screws in the back of the assembly that attach it to the inside of the trunk, and lifted the tab, and removed the wires attached to the light. But the assembly still doesn't come off. Is there something else I need to remove, or does it just take a lot of force to remove the assembly?

I assume this is a sedan. There may also be a 'locating' pin that must be removed (some sedans).... otherwise pull assembly straight out.

Replace turn signal bulb

The procedure to replace the REAR turn signal light bulb is as follows:- 1) There are three wing nuts on the inside of the trunk for each tail light. 2) Remove the piece of plastic just inside the trunk where the latch is. 3)Then remove the two thumb screws that the cargo net is attached to and the piece can be pulled up. 4)Them pull the carpeting away from the area where the tail light is located. 5)properly remove the three thumb screws. 6) Keep the bulb handy so you can fit the new bulb as the old bulb is removed out. The procedure to replace the FRONT turn signal is as follows:-- 1) First remove the front headlight assembly. And the bulbs . 2) Open the hood to remove the headlight assembly. 3) Pull the headlamp assembly straight out from the vehicle (moving the headlamp up and down slightly may help to remove it easily). 4) Front turn signal is located below the headlamp assembly (turn/parking lamp on top and the fog lamp is below it). 5) Then turn the bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise to remove it from assembly. 6)Then pull the old bulb from the socket and replace it with a new one. Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Replacement of rear outside tail light assembly

If you're asking how do you change a taillight bulb, then follow this procedure:

Open the trunk lid.

Disconnect the connectors from the taillights (taillight bulb connectors are visible by looking inside the trunk at the back of the tail lamps.) There may be an interior trunk trim panel that you have to take off but in most cases its just a series of thumb screws that hold them in.

Brake Lights/Taillights: 21/5 W

Rear Turn Signal Light: 21 W

Back-up Light: 21 W

Rear Side Marker Light: 5 W

Turn the bulb sockets 45 º counterclockwise to remove the bulbs.

If you're removing the taillamps with the bumper off there are 3 nuts and screws that hold the taillight to the rear panel of the car that have to come off from the inside of the trunk.
Remove the nuts and screws, then remove the taillight.

hope that answers your question
