Your clutch has a concentric bearing situated inside the gearbox, oil all over means that the seal broke and when you pressed the clutch the liquid went into the gearbox, onto the disc and than out through small gaps that are always there in the gearbox. Solution is simple but time taking, you need to remove the gearbox, take out the cylinder, examine the seal, replace it, bleed it ( not like normal clutch only by releasing air via nipple), examine for any leaks and than put everything back in with a new clutch.

4wd ( given clutch and A/T not bad)

Four wheel drive problems

ok, were are you, is it cold there,, no location, stated. 71F here in texas, not you?

4wd cars come on many flavors. one is called part time.
if yours is part time 4wd, never drive it on pavement, unless
said pavement is ICED up fully.!!
quadra trac or select trac, what you got i dont know
but do find out, then read the operators guide,
the quadra trac has a full time mode.

part time has no center differential and must not be used on dry pavement. only ice or off road.

the part time system is ww2 jeep like in that it has no center differential, so will bind up and damage parts. on dry pavement.
dry means not iced, driving water wet pavement is bad too.
part time, (as the name imples) is for ice or dirt.
not pavement,
my 02 wangler has part time but has and idiot clutch in the rear
prop shaft. preventing my bad acts, it's not for full time only it is for
me doing WRONG.
why not get your operators manual and read first.
lost it>? missing from the glove box.
here is what PT does. with bad drivers. (no idiot clutch)

http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/xfr-case/windup-hell.jpg

does this help, and i do want you safe, and others behind you?
and no damage to car.....
before using any 4wd car, read what you have first.
then read how to use, it then take action.
part time can be very dangerous.

Have a 2008 rav 4 need to know if all wheel dr is 4 wheel dr or when should you use it?

The RAV4 is a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
All wheel drive is when all four wheels have power at all times. This can be permanent or manual engaged. Clutches are used to prevent tire damage.
4 wheel drive is when one set of wheels has power and the other two can be engaged manually or automatically.
You should use 4 wheel drive when in mud or snow and extra traction is needed. 4 wheel drive can not be used on dry pavement.
